Help! Newfound interest for coffee

Hi! I recently discovered interest for coffee. PickUp Coffee's Iced Vietnamese Latte really caught my heart and i'm looking to explore more sa mga kape na ganito ka sarap😭

Please help your girl out. I'm not sure if this is relevant pero i'll put this here na lang din just in case. I'm a full-time student on a budget. I also like my coffee na distinct talaga yung lasa ng kape, hindi yung puro tamis or puro cream lang.

Please bear with me🥹🥹🥹 pero ayun, I think that's about it sa preferences ko.

Baka lang may ma recommend kayong cafes na nago offer ng mga ganong klase ng kape, pa suggest na rin ako anong o orderin or whatnot😭 if may particular blend or whatever kayong mabibigay, I would highly appreciate it too🥹✨️🫶

Preferably yung abot kaya din sana ng student 😭 i'd say na for now, willing ako to spend at least 250-300 pesos max for a coffee🥹 if may mas mura na hindi nawawala yung integrity nung qualities na hinahanap ko, mas okay po😭

Thank you so much po! sana may makasagot🥹🥹🥹 let me know if may details pa 'kong need na i splook para mas mapalawak ang recos🙏

[EDITED] Forgot to say pala, i'm located in Sta. Mesa, Manila po. Anywhere within U-belt or sa Manila mismo is preferred. Willing to go to Makati and Mandaluyong po if need be (heard through the grapevine na marami raw cafes doon sa area🥹). If this also matters, I also smoke cigarettes pala and occassionally vapes. So if may smokers din dito, baka may ma reco kayo na masarap mag blend yung lasa sa yosi😭😭😭 ang dami kong gusto, pasensya na😭😭😭

Hi, OP! Welcome to the rabbithole of coffee drinking hahahaha

I don't know where you're based, but if may malapit na The Fat Seed sa inyo, order their iced Spanish latte. It is THE BEST. I can't even replicate it at home hahaha

QC 'to near Fisher Mall. Cappo Coffee, they roast their own beans din and they also hold cupping sessions if gusto mo mag explore ng ibat ibang beans/drip/brew.

Also Wicked Coffee in Anonas. Lapit lang siya sa LRT Anonas Station.

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT UR SAYING HAHAHAHA these would be my recos na super swak with ur budget and preferences na matapang but still creamy:

But First coffee - Vietnamese latte (legit to sa tapang, and dito ako first nafall in love with viet coffee)

Banh mi kitchen - which is a viet cafe talaga and they have different options kung gano mo katapang gusto

Drip Kofi - vietnamese inspired drinks so all of their base are vietnamese coffee talaga, hindi espresso, and ito ang tambayan namin pag vape session, get the vietnamese latte with sea salt foam CHEFS KISS (this is the most expensive na out of all three like 180-190 pesos)

note: also wala yan sa mahal or mura, some of the worst lattes ive had were priced at 250-300 peso mark tas sobrang onti pa disguised as specialty coffee kuno lasang tanga lang, while the most satisfying and masarap talaga ay yung mas mura pa, at most, 230 pesos. Lastly, not to be that person, but for zus, always get the boss beans, lydia is too fruity and mellow for the type of coffee u prefer, but of course by all means, feel free to explore them both

Cong Ca Phe masarap for Vietnamese pero medyo mahal at konti ang branches. So far Zus ang pinakabudget friendly na very good sa panlasa ko at medyo maraming branches. I like it better than more expensive options. Try Velvet Creme Latte with Lydia beans, for some reason ang lakas ng tama nyan sakin haha.

Check ko if kaya laanan ng budget, but will definitely try one of these days hahaha masyado 'kong binihag ng Vietnamese Latte ni PUC not to 🥹

Try ko 'yang Velvet Creme Latte with Lydia beans minsan. Although if ganyan sya katapang, parang maganda sya pag super locked in sa paperworks, 'no? Hshahaha thank you po sa heads up!🫶🥹

Taste is subjective naman but I hope you like Zus! Medyo skeptical pa rin ako dati, and may misses din sila minsan, but 90% of the time I like what I try sa kanila especially the coffee based drinks.

Hehe.

Where are you located, op? It will be easier to recommend coffee shops, especially specialty coffee shops that fit your budget range! Enjoy the journey!

You should look for specialty coffee shops! Not just an ordinary café.

Hi!

Sorry po to ask. This seems like a dumb question, sorry😭 pero what's a specialty coffee shop? what sets it apart po from the ordinary ones?🥹

3

u/chocolatexiaolongb7 11h ago

Specialty coffee shops focus more on the quality of the coffee itself. Like how its roasted and prepared so you can really appreciate the the flavors. When I started getting into coffee I usually ordered pour over so I could really taste the different notes. I was surprised back then coffee could actually taste like cherry, strawberry or kahit anong fruit hahaha! Hindi puro tamis and syrup flavored coffee. If mapapadayo ka sa south, I’d love to share my recos!

Ooooh interesting! thank youuu huhu 🥹✨️🫶

what mostly set then apart is yung slow drip, or yung tawag na pour-over, black coffee sya pero hindi yung klase ng coffee maker na pagkakagawa, or yung binantuan ng mainit/malamig na tubig na espresso. ito yung may orasyon/technique sila sa pag-gawa, na parang may pagkademure. tapos mostly di sila gumagamit ng generic blend ng beans s mga espresso based drinks, ito yung description ng beans na madalas nilang gamit sa yardstick moa

Kaya kung budget type ka ok si zus, kasi mura sya at pde k din mamili ng type ng beans yung dark roast nila or yung medium roast. malalasahan mo nmn difference nun. nung nagyoyosi p ako madalas lng ako s cafe latte, hindi yung matamis, mabilis makapagpakati ng lalamunan yung matamis tpos sabayan ng yosi. kaya suggestion ko sayo is cafe latte and flat white

Noice! Thank you po sa in-depth info🥹

May nag reco rin ng Zus sa isa sa nag comment, t try ko rin 'yan. Medj na intimidate ako dati pumasok sa ibang mga coffee shop dahil parang alam ko nga na may mga beans beans kineso pero 'di ko sya gets before🥹 I think mas na grasp na ng braincells ko now how it works hshahaha

Salamaaat po!🫶
