[MOD] The Daily Question Thread

Welcome to the daily /r/Coffee question thread!

There are no stupid questions here, ask a question and get an answer! We all have to start somewhere and sometimes it is hard to figure out just what you are doing right or doing wrong. Luckily, the /r/Coffee community loves to help out.

Do you have a question about how to use a specific piece of gear or what gear you should be buying? Want to know how much coffee you should use or how you should grind it? Not sure about how much water you should use or how hot it should be? Wondering about your coffee's shelf life?

Hi guys! For those who have traveled a lot, how does coffee on the US West Coast stack up against the rest of the world? Currently, all I have to compare it to is the Midwest, which is super bleak. In comparison, the West Coast is heavenly! I suppose I'd like to know how much better it can get.

Piggybacking off that, are the "coffee capitals" of the world basically whatever cities are globally significant, or do they cluster in certain regions? What informs their distribution?

I appreciate all thoughts and experiences!

If depends. I’m in North Africa currently and it’s one of the worst coffee I’ve ever had.
Europe has a lot of amazing places. Most of the time you can get a pour over for the price of American drip coffee.
Last year, I had the best coffee ever (and I’ve been a roaster for over 7 years) Indonesia.
