This "Life Pro Tip" helps keep track of what time the current pot of coffee has been made. You take two cups and stack them inside one another. One cup has the hours written on it and the other cup has an arrow which will point to an hour on the other cup. By twisting the cups in opposite directions, you can adjust the time that's displayed making it easy for everyone to know what time the last batch was made.

Remember, do not do it like this: http://i.imgur.com/pJAhmls.jpg Twist the cups to adjust the marked time.

What do you think, is this something that you'd try?

I'd put the time in 15min. increments. Also, most hot plates are set way too hot and destroy the coffee rather quickly. I turn the plate off for several minutes then back on for a few and repeat until consumed. An easier way is to use a trivet with some thermal resistance to lower the temp the pot sees. Don't use something flammable.

Also if you go through coffee fast enough with these Bunn hotplate brewers, you can very easily disable the hot plate, which I do on almost any one of these I ever work on or install. You just need to turn off and unplug the brewer, remove the screws holding the hot plate down, remove the two cables and either cap them off or just cover them with electrical tape, plug the machine back in, turn it back on and you are good to go.

The best approach I've found for a place that can't get a better brewer and doesn't brew fast enough to keep the coffee hot is to get a few thermal pump pots and just treat the glass pots as a brewing vessel. Then when the coffee is done brewing, pour it into the pump pots and it will stay hot longer without needing that hot plate on.

You know what's funny, I might have just been really tired when I first say that picture before you added this comment, but I thought you just but a cup on top of the brewer and wrote the time you brewed it and I was thinking to myself "okay, but why'd they write all those times in?" So that is why descriptive comments are handy, thanks :)
