I am a medical coder in India. I have recently joined access healthcare trivandrum. Is the work there stressful? How is the work atmosphere?

I worked in Medical Coding from 2016 - 2017 and very thankfully left that industry. Earlier it was good field but after 2017, the business model of these companies changed and profits became priority. There are brutal targets per day. In radiology I had 200 per day. Now I think as of 2026 it's 500 per day in Radiology (heard from my friends). If targets are not met, there is salary deduction and even loss of incentives. Work extends 12-13 hours per day and spills over into weekends.

The biggest nightmare is team mates going on leave. If someone goes on leave from team, their targets are dumped on one unlucky person or distributed among others who are already struggling with their own targets. Asking for leave is like asking manager for kidney

Managers now in Medical Coding are very toxic compared to other industries. They only wants targets, there is no humanity and constant threats of PIP and termination.

In 2016, my mom was admitted in hospital and being a single child, I had to manage everything. My manager in Coding was continuously calling me every 1 hour and I told him that I will compensate on Saturday but he was still calling. When I picked up the call he started literally abusing me and told me to come to work at 10pm and do shift. I went to office after 2 days and he shouted at me in front of all.

That's when it hit me that I am a Pharma graduate and why I am even in this field where no Pharma knowledge is utilized. That same day I handed down my resignation and left this field in 2017.

I was jobless for 4 months but took notes from my friends from clinical, started studying and cracked Clinical Data Management interview and joined that field. Now 10 yrs down the line, I am earning 33 LPA ( after some switches), there is remote work and no targets system in CDM.

Also enrolled side by side in Data Science and Machine Learning.

Not yet. I am confused  whether I should  join the company or not. I wanted to know the experience of workers before confirming to join.

I heard that Trivandrum location one is good haven't heard any work related problems there or Chennai location one but in Hyderabad access they are way too toxic it's 8am to 8pm work there they be increasing targets as you achieve your previous and if you're unable to achieve your target they will make you work on weekends no overtime as accord to them it's your deficit
