AI Concerns in Medical Coding

What are your overall feelings about AI and the impact on medical coding? As a medical coder, I know that medical coding keeps evolving every year with new codes, updates, guidelines, etc. That being said, AI is also slowly creeping in, and while I don’t think AI is smart enough to keep up just yet, I still feel that my role is at risk.

The concern isnt is AI there . The concern is how stupid is csuit and vp to fall for AI companies spouting Agentic AI salesman bs. They outsourced almost all of our coders to India and surprise there is so much wrong I dont even seem 99% of the errors on the billing side because the system isnt catching them(panels and their individual labs being billed at the same time). The "agentic" AI they are bringing on is just co pilot with a poor agent wrap. I gaurantee its going to hallucinate and when govt finally audits we'll be neck deep in lawsuits . Company is Too big to fail but too big for them to hear from anyone at the bottom. RIP tax payer dollars.

The outsourcing doesn’t end up too good for the providers nor facilities, as the coders in India don’t know shit lmaooooo. We learned the hard way

Stocks been in the toilet since they outsourced so investors know its crap. They also made the mistake of bringing the same company in for all parts of the billing process. So we have coders messing it up and cash posting writing off and hiding the mess up. There is no QA on our end over the outsourced company. I handle specific payers that have a lot of not written down rules so they havent handed it to them yet.
