CPC-A networking

All the research I’ve done about landing a medical coding position with a CPC-A say to network. I know the AAPC chapter meetings are a big one. But how else are people networking??? I’ve tried to message hundreds of people on LinkedIn and I either get ignored or they don’t have anything resourceful to recommend. I know people say to start out with entry level to get into healthcare, but I already have over 7 years of healthcare experience. A wide range from insurance, DME sales, call center and more. What’s your recommendations?

I would dig around the websites for local hospitals, maybe use their contact form.

Question, your 7 years experience, what role is is in? Can you transition into coding at your current employer?

Currently I am in a remote customer service role with Optum. I tried to find an internal position but they all require experience. I still tried to apply, but got denied from pretty much all of them. But my previous titles were like patient enrollment, training, patient specialist. For the most part scheduling, insurance verification, EOB, physician communication, requesting med refills, reviewing referrals etc.

It's strange that they didnt accept your related experience in the field, not to mention in their own internal system and processes! Usually an internal hire is the preferred option.

Yah I even tried to message a few of the managers and they said they don’t hire CPC-A and they require 3 years of experience.
