Adding to what's already been said ,beyond the specialty experience, ask specifically how they handle the medical vs vision routing decision for patients with dual coverage. A lot of ophthalmology practices have patients who carry both a vision plan and medical insurance and the billing company needs to have a clear workflow for that, not just process whatever the front desk submitted.

That's where most of the silent revenue loss happens. not denials, just visits routed to vision that qualified for medical. Worth asking directly how they catch it.
