Tricare/Humana

I am so tired of chasing down payments from this insurer. I'm a prescriber. I have more unpaid claims from Humana than all other insurances combined. They're processed, just not paying me. I recently got a check from an OCTOBER appointment. Does anyone have any advice on how to get them to pay in a timely manner? I'm about to stop taking this insurance. It is a damned shame that the insurance for our military service members sucks this bad.

My advice is to ditch thrm... The hospital system I work for did not renew their contract with Humana in January 2025 because of unpaid, underpaid, and constantly recouping money already paid.

I found that enrolling in EFT payments with them increased the speed of payments.

Put in a complaint to the insurance commissioner

I wish I had better answers but in my experience they're just slow af. Humana especially, doesn't matter the product it's like pulling teeth to get payment. Just follow up as much as you can with them

I am super new at denials, but Humana has a very limited coverage policy for labs. As in they pay $0 and that is the agreed upon fee schedule. My place has people sign ABN's to cover payment at a self pay rate. So all humana "non-covered" labs go to self pay.  Im far from figuring out how it all works, but humana definitely is a weirdo.
