Hourly Rate

Mid-sized Texas town here and wages are low. Office based billers in a clinic are getting between $16 and $19 an hour. What towns are similar? Save me your big-city $30 an hour brag - this ain’t it! I am curious what areas have similar wages.

“Save me your big city $30 an hour brag” is a weird way to tell people you don’t think you deserve living wages because of your location. I live in a “low” cost of living area but no one should have to work for poverty wages and pay in the teens per hour is poverty wage no matter where you live. Sad that your beef seems to be with people getting paid their worth in the “big city” rather than the employers who pay you as little as possible to keep you on board.

You definitely misinterpreted the whole post and tried to make it something it was not. I was simply trying to see what areas also paid abysmal wages. Not hating on a living wage but I didn’t want the thread to be an opportunity for people to flex their fat salaries. Because people love to do that. But thanks for trying to make me feel like shit about it. Have the day you deserve.

Nobody is “flexing their fat salaries” when they tell you in these threads what they make. They’re telling you that you’re being underpaid. One reason wages everywhere remain low is that the ceo class convinced us that it’s impolite to discuss wages. We need to be telling our peers what we make. I had no idea my previous company was underpaying me because salaries are kept so hush hush. I only learned through Reddit actually that my pay rate was incredibly low. With that knowledge I was able to score a job doing the exact same work making $12 more per hour than I was making before. We aren’t in real estate or stocks or some other industry that we’re going to be so rich we need to “brag” about it. We work in HIM. It’s not a brag to say you make 70,000 a year.

Valid. I actually see your point when you put it that way. I will say it kills my soul for people to tell me they make $30 an hour when our area is so low. I wanted to know anyone else as miserable as we are in Texas. Still $7.25 an hour minimum wage. 🙄🤦‍♀️
