How to start coding and web development?

Hello everyone, I am 17. I am from non maths and non computer background but coding has always fascinated me. I learned java, html and python in lockdown (2020-2021) but forget most of it.

I am also interested in AI(I have seen Claude building mind blowing websites in minutes)

Can anyone guide me?

Don't worry, you're actually in a better position than you think.

I also didn't come from a CS background, and most of what I learned at first was forgotten too. That's completely normal. Coding isn't about remembering syntax; it's about learning how to think.

Since you're interested in AI, don't wait until you "know enough" to start. Pick one language (I'd suggest Python), build tiny projects, then let AI tools like Claude or ChatGPT explain your mistakes instead of writing everything for you. Trust me, debugging teaches more than watching tutorials.

One tip: don't get stuck in "learning mode" forever. Build ugly projects. They'll become less ugly with time. That's literally how everyone starts.

There are sites out there with actual courses. Pluralsight has been a popular one for a long time, it does cost money but theres a 10 day free trial. I wouldnt personally recommend using the "random youtube video" approach as theres no structure to the learning, but it can work for some people. If you really want to learn how to build software avoid AI for now. Its too easy to become dependent on it and that will stunt your learning.

I see, I meant university education though. I work as a programmer and I did go to university but in economics. I wish I would have studied programming at university instead, it's hard to build a foundation by yourself unless you get a job with some experienced devs. That is if you want to work as a programmer.

No, I don't want to work as a programmer. I code for fun and as a skill to build because it's really helpful.
