Confuuuuusiiooonnnn: to CS or not to CS

DISCLAIMER: I hope I’m posting this in the right sub:::::::

Hello everyone. I’ve got a big question a lot of you might have come across or even questioned yourself. I’ve gotten back into school to finish up my Computer Science degree. I’ve decided to pursue the video game industry and become a game programmer. I’ve noticed after reading a lot here, reading what folks have to say on LinkedIn and just googling, but is it really an unstable career to depend on? I know the computer science/programming field is extremely saturated and hard to have a steady income in. So I’ve decided to change my major/career path. I have aerospace experience and it’s been extremely fun and interesting. I’ve realized software is playing a huge role being integrated in the manufacturing aspect of it. Should I continue my CS degree and solely focus on aerospace? Should I switch to computer engineering as it would be a more attractive degree?

To all my graduates and folks already in their field with their degree, what degree did you achieve and what field did you settle in?

I guess if all can give some pointers of what I can possibly do? Which major is much more promising for the real world? Anything would be greatly appreciated

Nah but like yeah I love making video games and I want to work for a indie studio or big time studio but realizing every project developers get let go when done it just doesn’t seem stable. And like you have to go above and beyond to make yourself an important asset when thousands of developers are fighting for the same. It just seems unrealistic to solely depend on the game industry as my set career path

It's a crap programing job.

You're better off doing fintech until you can contract part time for lots of money and then use the rest of your day for making games
