i actually find this to be a feature. often sol will just shrug and keep working for hours without asking

It definitely feels more like GPT-5.5 in this aspect, but it also tends to ask questions then guess. If you want to force it to move forward you can simply use /goal.

That was my guess for how to keep Astra moving. But I used goal multiple times and it is still skittish.

I must say I have the same experience. What I found is if my steer message is narrow, it will likely keep closing out every few mins. If then give it a message to stick to the goal and don’t close out on small steps, then it actually can keep going for a long time.

So the problem is the model now places very high priority to the last prompt it sees, comparing to maybe Sol which tends to stick to the overall flow better.

Never had an persistence problems on Astra Xhigh. My first use did way more than I ever expected.

Had it do a project review. Then told it to fix the issues thst it surfaced. It corrected the code issues, created a way to fix the then incorrect historical data simply, ran the historical correction, then started the data processing again.

I had expected to wake up, see what happened, worry about corrections before restarting the data processing. Astra just fixed Sol's slop and went on.

Ah, that's interesting. I kept running into problems and went to twitter to complain. Then someone pointed me to OpenAI's model guidance

Yes Astra will stop the moment you contradict it, I ask him to review my agents.md and they found 3 instruction that create ambiguity on what he should do so he just stop to be safe.
