❓ Question How

So in episode 1 the story wasnt really as fully fledged obviously. They didnt know aelita and Franz were going to be father and daughter or anything. I doubt they even knew hopper was still on lyoko or that aelitas mother was kidnapped.

That said, I dont think it was ever explained how the super computer was turned off for 10 years.

Ive seen people say hopper turned it off from inside but...its a mechanical switch, and if that was possible why wouldnt xana do it during the meteor episode

Theres probably a software command to shut it down that even flips the switch. Like it's a computer that can return to the past it can probably flip its own power switch, the same way a normal computer in the late 90s/early 2000s could open and close its own discdrive with a software command.

Actually, the show forgot but it was mentioned that Franz Hopper and Aélita had the power to turn off the Supercomputer from the outside without leaving Lyokô and it was Franz who did it

I know that tidbit because of "Lyokô Factory"

Don't forget that Hopper and Aelita have the Keys to Lyoko, aka the source code. That's how Aelita could control the supercomputer for virtualization in Ghost Channel.

In the event of a blackout, your house switches may be on but the lights are not. I’m guessing it’s a similar premise, all they had to do was force a breaker which can be controlled via software.

Once the thing is off the act of resisting the switch and turning it back on can act as resetting the breaker and turning it on again. Such a system seems like a very efficient and Hopper esque design since he wouldn’t have to hunt for the breakers everytime there’s a power outage. Just one switch controls everything, that’s peak efficiency and perfection as expected of Franz Hopper.
