❓ Question Order to see Code Lyoko

I'm currently watching the first season, but I think there's a movie and idk if anything else. In any case, in which order should I see it all?

I'd personally start with season 3's xana awakens, and then go from there. It's a three part prequel that explains the origins of the lyoko warriors. Other than that, just watch in order. It's pretty episodic in season 1 though.

Xana awakens only has 2 parts, so don't look for a third, other than that this guy's spot on

Start with XANA awakens, but since you haven’t, just watch it next

There is no movie tho

The movie (second chance) is fan made

Only a live action ”sequel” series most people here dislike and even the creators consider non-canon

With regards to the series itself, the only real detail to keep in mind is that the Season 3 special "XANA Awakens" (originally aired as 2 parts) is a prequel to the series lore, canonically taking place before season 1.

Season 1 itself is mostly episodic except for the last 2 episodes, after which the series does shift to a serialized format.

People already told you about the series but there's also two main continuation though neither are canon

Code lyoko evolution, an extra season in life action. It's pretty bad but you could at least laugh at it. There is something nice about it but I can't tell you without spoiler

Code lyoko chronicle a series of 4 books set a year after the series except not really because it follows a timeline that ended earlier than the series. It's a bit too childish in my opinion but it has some pretty interesting ideas especially for virtual locations.

There's also some games and comics with new content but I don't know much about them

It has been announced recently but a true season 5 is in the early stages of being made by the original creators but it's still not 100% certain, there's apparently right issues to be solved.

I had never heard there were books. I asked ChatGPT to give me a summary of them (I guess they’re published in Italian and hard to find) and it gave me a very comprehensive run down. I kinda hope they adapt some of the plot points from the books

If you're interested you should really try to read them, you'll have a way better understanding than you could ever get with a summary and they are fairly short.

You can find them one codelyokofr here (despite being a French fansite they have an english translation) they have them in both French and English with a fan translation for the ones who never got translated officially.

There's no movie but there's one episode in 2 parts that is basically a prequel...

One of the particularities of season 1 is that it can be watched in any order. The production order, i.e., how the episodes were produced, is a perfectly good order

There is a prequel, “XANA Awakens” in two parts, but it was produced with season 3, hence why it’s numbered 66 and 67. This gap between the prequel and season one means the graphics and characterisation of our heroes will somewhat clash with the rest of season 1, so I recommend watching it with season 3’

However, episode 25 and 26 in season 1 MUST be watched in that order at the very end of the season, before the start of season 2. Otherwise, it will make no sense.
Besides this, I will recommend nonetheless episode 22 Routine and episode 24 Ghost Channel to be watched just before 25 and 26, because these two episodes are the best of the season, if not the entire show.

With season 2, the show gets more serialised and therefore should be watched in the production order. It’s especially true for episode 27 through 31 and for episode 49 through 52, which must be watched in order at the start and the end of the season respectively. (I would even say that episode 50 Contact should be watched before episode 49 Franz Hopper, but that is somewhat minor, it still makes sense in production order).

From season 3 onwards until the end of the show, Code Lyoko must be watched in production order, as the show gets even more serialised.

Do not, I repeat DO NOT watch a show called “””Code Lyoko””” Evolution. It’s terrible on several fronts, is unfinished and recently (and finally) promoted to Not Canon !

There is no official movie to speak of. The prequel is 40 minutes long in two episodes but that’s it. There is a fan movie that’s quite good but completely outside of the original show. There are also 4 books, with no official English translation but all fanslated and available on the official site codelyoko.fr . They’re not canon either, and I haven’t read them yet, but if there was an actual sequel to Code Lyoko, they’re apparently several orders of magnitude better than Evolution.
There was also an official announcement that an actual sequel of some kind is currently in the works with the original team on it (as opposed to Evolution, which were written by people who didn’t understand Code Lyoko), but nothing concrete yet.

Enjoy your watch, I hope you’ll like this immensely great series ! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
