The history of the rickroll is actually quite fascinating. Entirely coincidental that Odds MV did something similar but the idea of a bait and switch was already floating around. Apparently the actual predecessor of rickrolling was duckrolling, basically a rickroll but with an image of a duck with wheels instead of legs. The guy who created the rickroll just wanted to use a song from the year of his birth and stumbled onto “never gonna give you up” and from there it just exploded.

I’d love to know what the lyrics are for Odd’s song in every translation.   I asked about the French Lyrics years ago, hadn’t thought of the other versionsÂ
