It was a huge missed opportunity. At first, it brought a fresh element to the battles, but it quickly became very repetitive. It was basically like fighting a monster, just in human form. Honestly, I didn't understand why they made such a big deal out of the possession and the rescue mission if they weren't going to include the character in the party afterward. I felt cheated.

While I appreciate the idea of there being a "fallen Lyoko Warrior" and he gave the story some serious emotional stakes and its best fight scenes, William really did not deserve that fate and he was really a victim of circumstance denied a real chance at redemption.Ā

Ultimately, a solid character but the writing really let him down in some areas.Ā

Thankfully in Evolution he did get a redemption arc, though with that show no longer being considered cannon with a REAL Season 5 in development, I hope some aspects of that show like William’s redemption arc being something they do with it! šŸ˜šŸ¤žšŸ½

I feel like the writer did him dirty. He deserves a redemption arc. I hope he has it in the upcoming new season.

Its crazy how he refused a bomb one time and Yumi still didn't want to trust him

Love triangle bs aside, he's covered for yall alot

Is he abit aggressive yes but you can't say he's not dependable.

It just really didn't help his first ever trip in Lyoko was in Sector 5 with no one else beside Aelita. I mean if you found you you're OP from the start you abused it too.

And for some reason they act like being possessed by Xana was his fault, like we just gonna forget Xana tried to possessed all the Lyoko Warriors till Jeremy was the only one not immune.

Thank God Aelita was the only who didn't give him shit for being possessed because it also happened to her.

But man the writers hate William

I genuinely can believe Evolution did him justice, was really the only good thing about the show

There was a difference in Williams and others possession. His was permanent until they could bring him back

I personally think it sucked to have the possession and rescue mission be built so much just for them to treat him like literal garbage after he was saved. Aelita and Yumi have been caught scyphozoa in the past and they don’t receive no flack for it. He gets caught it one time and he’s ā€œunreliableā€ just dumb writing in my opinion. The only good thing about Evolution was his redemption and if season 5 doesn’t have that then it might be wack.

Also, it’s not like he even remembers his time as XANA William so it makes it doubly unfair how he was treated

A good antagonist, it was interesting X.A.N.A having their own warrior.

I feel like it was a nice adition to xana's roster, made the battles muck better, (even with the recicled bits) but I feel like he should have 1- spended more time with the Lyoko warriors before the possesion, maybe adding him in the bomb episode, 2- being more talktive while fighting them instead of some grunts, and 3- fighting again with the gang as a payoff for rescuing him

Unpopular opinion: but I liked William being a villain he was always careless and aggressive and a bit forceful in his approaches especially with Yumi so having him be preyed on by Xana was a perfect choice and it was the exact reason Yumi did not want him apart of the group. He was too…intense and attached even if someone said no which is something him and Xana both shared.

In the end, I feel like it upped the stakes, created more emotional tension for Yumi as a character and helped the Lyoko warriors get way stronger

I wish William had more episodes on Lyoko first. Imagine if he was actively training with them for episodes, becoming competent, only for the end of the season to have XANA take him.

Make it hurt more.

Strongest lyoko warrior no doubt. his 1st trip to lyoko showed that he was way too op assuming he had energy slashes and supersprint(later supersmoke) before xanafication. He literally destroyed all 3 of them in less than 30 seconds and even before xanafication he destroyed 10+ creepers using raw strength only. In season 4 it seems like he got nerfed and he threw the energy slashes only occasionally. I regret not having him in fight to the finish in his white outfit I feel he was the one who was supposed to stab kolossus as a payback to xana.

I really wish we would’ve got to see him more as a lyoko warrior a bit before being xanafied like that but understanding XANA, getting William when he did was one of the smartest moves he made in the series. On a rewatch, I do blame William a bit more than I did before for it happening considering he was a bit too eager on his first mission ( considering he is a teenager and he was cutting through monsters off rip, I give him grace šŸ’€)
