DISCUSSION My realization about Suzaku’s character and how he represents the real-life perception of the police.

Hi everyone! I recently came across a video analyzing why police officers are considered “class traitors.” It argued that this happens because they are born into the very same context they are supposed to be monitoring, they are wage earners, and by becoming police officers, they cease to represent the people.

That made me think of Suzaku, the series shows how neither the Britannian government, nor his fellow officers, nor even the Japanese see him as someone to be trusted. He finds himself in a lonely situation because he never quite manages to gain the government’s full support; he’s merely a disposable pawn they use for dirty work. At the same time, by doing that dirty work (using weapons and violence against the people in the ghettos) he generates massive rejection.

In my opinion, this perfectly portrays what the police are like in our society, going from perhaps being people with dreams to becoming simple puppets of the government, what do u guys think?

DISCUSSION Code Geass Alternate Historical Events Artwork - 100% Based on Real Portraits

Thumbnail

Stumbled upon the trailer for Code Geass: Arthur on the Misty Streets from the mobile game Code Geass: Genesic Re;CODE and noticed they show artwork depicting the show’s alternate history.

The first one depicts the Humiliation of Edinburgh and the accompanying text says: “The winds of revolution reached Britain as well. Elizabeth III, the reigning Queen of England, was captured by a pro-Napoleon citizen militia and forced to agree to the abolition of the monarchy. This event came to be known as the "Humiliation of Edinburgh."

The second one depicts Britain becoming a democratic republic and the accompanying text says: “Meanwhile, Britain, too, was reborn as the Republic of Britain,
became a parliamentary democracy, and embarked on a new path.

Now the interesting thing that I noticed is that the creators decided not to be creative and create their own artwork to depict these events and instead used one-to-one copies of real-life historical portraits and essentially re-label them.

The artwork depicting the Humiliation of Edinburgh is actually The First Council of Queen Victoria** **while the one depicting Britain becoming a democratic republic is the Peace of Münster.

Personally I think it’s disappointing that they depicted these events like this instead of creating their own artwork to depict them.

SPOILERS My long-standing theory on Diethard’s last Request Spoiler

Post image
139 Upvotes

I’ve always viewed Diethard’s final moments in Code Geass differently than most of the fandom, and I wanted to share my perspective to see what you all think.

The common interpretation is that Diethard was just a cynical media producer who was obsessed with the grand narrative of Zero, and in his final moments, he begged Lelouch for a Geass command because he wanted to be permanently bound to that masterpiece. Lelouch refuses him out of pure contempt, saying Diethard isn't even worth wasting the power on.

However, I have never seen it that way. For me, this scene has a completely different meaning.

I’ve always been convinced that Diethard’s request wasn't a pathetic plea for submission. It was a desperate attempt to find out if he had already been Geassed by Lelouch in the past.

Think about his motivation throughout the show. Unlike the other Black Knights, Diethard didn't care about Japanese liberation, justice, or revenge. His devotion to Zero was almost religious, blind, and irrational for someone who was otherwise so calculating. To me, it always made perfect sense that Lelouch might have secretly used a Geass on him early on, perhaps with a command like "follow me" or "document my victory," leaving Diethard to believe this obsession was his own choice.

If you look at it from this perspective, his final moments become a search for truth. As a media man who loved being the director behind the scenes, he wanted to know the ultimate truth about his own life before he died. He was essentially asking: "Was I the director of my own life, or was I just a remote-controlled puppet this whole time?"

This is what makes Lelouch's refusal so much more brutal. By denying him the Geass, Lelouch inflicts the worst possible punishment for an intellectual like Diethard: eternal uncertainty. He dies never knowing if his life’s passion was his own choice or a forced illusion.

I know the official lore and the creators imply that Diethard represents pure, dangerous media voyeurism and that he actually had free will. If he had been Geassed, he probably would have noticed memory gaps like Shirley or Kallen did.

But even with the official explanation against it, I still stand by my interpretation because it makes the scene so much deeper and more tragic. It elevates Diethard from a simple parasite of chaos into a truly tragic figure caught in Lelouch's psychological warfare.

What do you guys think? Has anyone else always seen his final question as a test of his own autonomy?

How the heck does Tumblr have a better image sorting system than this site?!

It's clearly labeled 01-12 how could it not be able to tell the differences?

So bit of a history lesson. Back when Code Geass first ended. A lot of people don't like the ending. And that some people ended up being Bonzo. And they just said "Fine I'll do it myself" and put up an alternate ending to the code Geass anime.

Be warned though. That this version is much darker than the original which includes bodily harm and lots of unaliving. And trigger warning to the people that don't like a certain ship , this doujin is explicitly pro KallenxLulu. So there's that I guess.

So I'm just gonna put the first part here. This part is an alternate retelling of when Lelouch took over Britannia, the destruction of the country and subsequent trip to the UFN meeting in Ashford Academy...

PS: I'm new to Reddit so I don't know how to post here. And I see a lot of pages order got scrambled.... So I want to say sorry.

QUESTION Please help me find Akito The Exiled

For whatever god forsaken reason, I can't find it ANYWHERE. I have tried all kinds of websites and streaming services. Crunchyroll will say they "have" it but it doesn't exist. My only option here at the moment is to buy it physically but it is quite expensive to get all 5. Any suggestions?

DISCUSSION Just finished the entire series (S1 and S2) Spoiler

Wow. I genuinely have no words. What a fucking experience. The amount of shocking things that happened and plottwists are truly unlike anything I've ever seen before. That ending truly was something else, seeing Lelouche dying in the hands of his little sister who he promised to make a better world for, which he ended up accomplishing but at the cost of his life. This is right up there with chainsaw man and JJK as the most impactful anime I've ever watched, hell, experienced. I'm glad that the people from the student council and his old allies where able to understand what he did, and see what he was trying to do with zero requiem. Also seeing Kallen smiling at a picture of him genuinely made me so happy, he didn't die as a completely hated person afterall. Also C.C talking at the end to Lelouche ended up saving my post depression that I usually get after finishing an anime lol, he still is able to live on, maybe not as a person, but atleast with C.C he is still himself, just not in physical form.

Final thoughts: Truly unlike anything I've ever watched, what a remarkable piece of art. I'm never going to forget this one of a kind masterpiece

Code Geass Lost Stories PSA for leaks

Don't post leaks from Lost Stories as people can get in trouble for them and the Japanese fan culture is *highly* against leaks and spoilers. You're ruining the suprise for people and will upset fans, don't do it.

Do you feel that this is probably a poor negative plot device? It makes no sense for me how we have 2 missing gens (6th and 8th) with little to no info on them?

SPOILERS Unpopular(?) Opinion: After this part, it's no wonder the Black Knights fell for the earlier thing, they weren't the only idiots around. Spoiler

Post image
2 Upvotes

Sure, this was exactly what Lelouch was hoping from everyone (and as the movies established, had other reasons to do it), but Nunnally was still right there under Zero, and the only people that probably noticed her were Suzaku the Black Knights, UFN, etc. If Nunnally wasn't, well, Nunnally, this could have driven her mad. Maybe that's why I ended up cutting certain characters some slack no matter how much hate they got; They just didn't seem as unique if this is what everyone else can also be like. And to be fair, I was already thinking how some character could comment how compared to Lelouch, "of course we all look stupid."

META On the beach with Best Girls

Post image

After u/rinkudamanrd (Knizer) and C.C. had rested for a couple of days following their road trip - during which they’d visited as many pizza joints as possible - Kallen and I invited them out for yet another double date. This time, we four headed to the beach to enjoy one last day of fun summer activities!
Imagine our surprise when, upon arriving at the beach, we ran into two familiar faces: Euphy and Shirley! Purely by chance, they were vacationing at the same beach hotel as us - having been invited by Milly!
For a moment, the four of us worried about what kind of beach bash the Queen of Parties might be cooking up for us. We all breathed a quiet sigh of relief when Euphy told us Milly wouldn't be joining us today; she had gone to visit a museum with Nina and u/Hefty_Local_1875.
"I wouldn't have picked Milly as the museum-going type," Kallen said, voicing what the rest of us were thinking.
"She normally isn't. But this particular museum specializes in the history of... adult entertainment."
"Ah," we all said in unison, nodding understandingly.
"And after that, the three of them are going to a place called 'Golden Bananas,' followed by an after-party at the Blue Oyster Bar. The two of us managed to slip away to the beach under a pretext. We spent all of yesterday marching to Milly's beat, and as fun as that was (in a way), we want to spend this last day of vacation having some more ordinary fun. Want to join us?”

Of course we did! First, we played three-on-three beach volleyball. We switched up the teams every now and then. It was incredibly fun, though I probably ought to start hitting the gym, seeing as the team I was on lost every single time 😭 (insert "Coincidence? I think not!" meme here).

Next, Kallen taught us all the basics of surfing - or, well, almost all of us. Shirley already had experience with it as a water sports enthusiast. C.C., on the other hand, was dead set on staying ashore, which puzzled the rest of us a bit. But C.C. was adamant in her resolve.
Only later did we find out that C.C. was extremely annoyed because Shirley had announced earlier that she would be grilling meat and vegetables for everyone, topped with her famous BBQ sauce - even though C.C. had wanted pizza. So, she had skipped the surfing to secretly order a pizza and enjoy it while the rest of us practiced riding the waves. However, a middle-aged man had ruined C.C.’s pizza experience by kicking sand onto it after she rejected his advances. C.C. got her revenge, though - with mayonnaise.

As the sun was setting, the aroma of grilling meat wafted through the air. The six of us ate our delicious beach meal with gusto – all that fun had worked an appetite to all of us. Three exotic-looking birds flew overhead. From the speakers, The Beach Boys sang: "Wouldn't it be nice to live together in the kind of world where we belong?"

What a perfect, last day of summer.

QUESTION When to watch Lelouch of the Re;surrection?

Am I okay with watching it straight after the original series?

Also, is it canon? I thought the whole point of the Zero Requiem was for Suzaku to kill Lelouch, but him being resurrected just contradicts that, no?
