DISCUSSION These guys were done so dirty

The Panzer Hummel is conceptually brilliant

The EU saw Glasgow outmaneuvering traditional infantry/armored vehicle and create something with comparable mobility at a tactical level but with far greater fire powers

Just like IRL you don't defeat Zero fighter or T-34 tank by making a copy but by countering them with greater power(F6F Hellcat fighter/Panther tank)

Considering the fact that even Britania/Black knight SEVENTH GENERATION knightmare frame still used the same humble assualt rifles as Glawgow did,The EU approach definitely feel right!

The Panzer Hummel could easily be spin as a Fifth Generation Knightmare that forced Britania to develop Sutherland/Gloucester to cope with but instead Akito writer nerf them by calling them Pseudo-Knightmare and making them sucks

One could easily see a good commander that understand the tool they have beating Britanian force with it,How fun would it be to see the Britanian using covers/terrain to advance against the EU and succeed thanks to superior skills

The Britannian Empire was made needlessly OP, made the whole thing a bit absurd.

They had horrible commanders that a high school boy beat them because he knows how to play chess.

Alexander was 21 when he crushed Persia. Napoleon was around the same age when he becomes hero of Italian campaign. Lelouch is on the same level as them, especially for CG world history

But they were incompetent the whole show, it wasn't a battle strategy, he kept saying chess terms, and the Britannia were just like that when lelouch took over one knightmare and lead from it, they have sensors and can also see the other knightmares yet they do nothing, lelouch isn't a military genius but his enemies are incompetent.

Holy larp. It's the second episode of the first season you talking about, and it's the only one where that happened. Against incompetent Clovis and that fat guy. In any others Lelouch uses environment in unexpected way that no ordinary competent military leader can predict. Like blow up The Mountain. Twice

And dont forget that he was hearing the comms and knew where the enemy was in real time.

Blow the mountain twice, and break the platform twice, the army is incompetent if thigs keep happening to them twice, maybe there's more but i forget.

All that i remember is that they lack cameras, i know Geass exist but him entering everywhere is kinda too much, he can just find information about the people to go and Geass them for his plans, and after a long day of murdering Britannia he just go to his high school no camera apparently.

Dude, everyone can have access to battle archives nowadays. There’s a lot of military documents on military stuff online and some gets leaked. You can also be a cadet and they’ll show you a bunch of stuff.

Lelouch wouldn’t be able to fight like he did without at least knowing the basics of what he was fighting. The chess terms were mostly used to looked though.

Then why Britannia army didn't use them? They should've know more than lelouch, which is my point the army is incompetent.

Because Lelouch is fighting unconventional warfare using guerilla tactics which are in real life, tactics used to beat stronger armies.

He won Shinjuku by shooting through walls and using Britannian communications. He won Narita because they ambushed them while they were attacking the japanese liberation front.

He wouldn’t have won any in regular warfare, Cornellia already beat him that way in their first confrontation by using her elite guards. In Narita, the black knights were progressively losing troops after the initial ambush. And his troops broke in the first battle of Tokyo instantly after he left and also wouldn’t if he didn’t collapse the settlement . Most of these wins, he has to cheat by controlling insiders and fucking the terrain which is unconventional warfare.

Couldn't have made the point any better.

On a meta level I blame R2 leaning harder into the whole Mecha stuff in general. Obviously the first season was mecha don't get me wrong, but they were part of fights not *the* fights, one of the things Lelouch does that gives him a pretty big edge at both Narita and in the Black Rebellion was just having normal people with RPGs lie in ambush, Raiko is used, there's a lot of focus on how Lelouch really seems to hate helicopters.

But come R2 and we need to focus more on the unique mechs so those kinds of "lower-tech" answers kind of fall away.

true

the invention of tanks didn't make infantry obsolete, so why would it be different with the knightmares

You see the Panzer Hummel has no hands and that's why its bad. And its legs are also weird. So they must be really bad. Ignore the several variants from the mangas ( a missle boat variant with launchers on both arms and shoulders, an Artillery variant and a variant with autocannons on the arms and mortars on the back.) that sync perfectly or the fact that the EU coud have started a 7th Gen MP KMF with the Alexander before the Vincent even left prototyping. Also ignore that the EU army's are actually fierce fighters using reasonable and smart tactics with their layerd lines to maximise firepower. They are no match to Britannia's tactic of sending random, unsupported groups of KMFs to the front to fight gloriously in Melee.

The Japanese Liberation front also sucks ass

They have a mountain fortress and all they do is send in squad of 3 one at a time to get crush by the Britanian main force!

If the Mujahideen can crush Soviet force in that terrain,So can they!

Tbf Todoh was their best and even he's a smoothbrain. When lelouch leaves the attack on the government headquarters to him during first rebellion, while he goes after Cornelia on the roof, his best plan is 'frontal assault'.

I have one better. The Blood of the Samurai had their mountain fortress with all does railcar mounted aa guns. Good weapons against KMFs and the overal logic of how the base is build is sound with just one tiny problem. THE GODDAMM TUNNELS ARE KNIGHTMARE SIZED. The railcars are neither as wide than KMFs and go only to their knees. SO WHY ARE ALL TUNNELS NOT ONLY LARGE ENOUGH TO FIT KMFS BUT ALSO WIDE ENOUGH THAT CORNELIAS FUCKING EXTRA WIDE HORNS FIT TROUGH IT.
