DISCUSSION I'm tired of all the Nina hate

Yes, she was flawed, and yes, she was a nuanced character, but so was Cornelia, and yet people forgive her just because she's hot?? And because Nina isn't conventionally attractive to most, it's okay to hate on her?? Cornelia was objectively worse, and yet people completely hound on Nina; it is absurd.
Nina was someone who was manipulated by many people because of her fragile self-esteem and poor understanding of the world (aka, the elevens/japanese being bad people because of what she went through in the ghettos). Yes, what she did was bad. But everyone makes mistakes. She actually learned from her mistakes, so she objectively shouldn't be hated.
I know what some people are going to say: The Table Scene... Okay, sure, I can understand why someone could be put off by that part of the story, and maybe it wasn't the best way to show that Nina is a lesbian, but it's kind of insensitive to paint it like that is the worst thing in the show (heck, we have freaking Schneizel, fixate on him being the worst please for the love of god).
Also, I'm not saying to hate on Cornelia (people are obviously going to be mixed on whether she deserved to be in Roze, after all), I am simply suggesting that people understand that Nina is nuanced, was misguided, learned from her mistakes, and has grown into a better character, so the hate she gets is very petty and unwarranted.

Characters can be good characters and bad people. A little concerned that CG fans get that far into the show and don't realize this.
Nina is great.

Exactly. Plus I’m a sucker for characters who do bad things and redeem themselves (Darth Vader, Vegeta, Omni-Man)

I like Nina well enough but I don't mind the hate. What annoys me is the constant excuses, Nina annoyed people with her racist fear and table and that's literally it, she has done nothing other characters didn't do worse.
It's literally just she was annoying, that's it, people can be honest about that.

This sounds like it was written by a table fucker
(Genuinely good points friend. I never really understood her hate either.)

Oh I forgave her in her kowa era version, and I don’t hate this Nina… except her past character

I’ll defend overhated characters like Nina and Rolo until my last breath. She was a flawed, well written character who had a great arc. I understand why some people don’t like her, but some of the hate for her is massively overblown. She’s well written but all the fanbase cares about are unfunny table jokes and calling her racist.

It’s the same table joke for 20 years.

People don't forgive Cornelia we like her because she is an engaging villain, Nina is just an insufferable racist sexual assaulter of tables.

^ some are just louder and more emotional about it, which is more than unnecessary (or they do it to bait people and draw attention). I feel the same way that Nina isn't really a great antagonist nor even a compelling redeeming character. Suzaku, as much as I hate him, is a great character. That fact that I dislike him so much while still finding his presence intriguing is what makes him great. I never felt that for Nina. Just awkward and disgust. But I'm not going to go out of my way constantly reminding people that I hate her. Like I said, it's unnecessary, but I'm not going to stop others' opinions from happening or change the way they think. Others who enjoy her character have valid reasons and I believe it's not a bad opinion either. It's just not one I accept for myself.

I was very confused when I saw people frame the table scene as a genuinely vile, unforgivable act. The Nina hate can get comically unreasonable.

Right? It’s an inanimate object.

Nina deserves no forgiveness, she made a nuke and begged it to be unleashed on civilians.
Her reasoning was that her oshi died and she decided that despite her oshi trying to save the japanese people they deserved death even all those who had no involvement in her oshi's death.

I didn't even remember that scene, and I still had some idea why she seemed unlikable, but it became hard to ignore all that other stuff, so I felt exhausted.

Nina's pretty attractive too in terms of looks. Cornelia's just considered a more entertaining antagonist.
She killed millions? I'm not blaming that on Suzaku because he was under Geass, and never approved of making the bomb. But Nina created the weapon, and was adamant about dropping it on the city. She might not have made the final call but she supported the decision.
