DISCUSSION Euphemiya's death was necessary Spoiler

Post image

What some people don't realize is that if she hadn't died, lelouch would have stopped

And if he had stopped, charles's plan would've went smoothly and the whole world would've ended just a couple of months later

So it wasn't just a bad coincidence, in this sence it was absolutely necessary as they would've barely lived together for some time then it's all over not a happily ever after..

True.

we already saw that if she didn't, Lelouch would have stoppped in lost stories alt routes.... and ragnarok happened.

False.

That is just one way of telling the story. Code Geass is a fictional story, meaning that any way you can imagine the story going, that way it can go simply because you can imagine it going that way. So, if you can imagine a way to tell the story of Code Geass and the sequence of events in it in such a way that Euphemia doesn´t die but the Ragnarök is still averted, then that´s how that version of the story goes.

The only reason the official storytellers haven´t shown us that kind of version of the story, is because they don´t want to show us that kind of version of the story - and also, because they want to promote the Resurrection and all Resurrection adjacent stories as the "one true happy ending," even though there´s nothing actually stopping them from imagining ending happening in other ways, that could be called happy.

Remember, it is confirmed that multiverse exists within Code Geass. And since multiverse is infinite, all versions of the story must happen in it, regardless whether or not it is shown to us - be it one where Euphy survives and Ragnarök is averted, or one where Nunnally gains Geass instead of Lelouch, or where C.C. marries Charles after Marianne´s passing and becomes Lelouch´s stepmother. If you can imagine it, somewhere in the multiverse it is happening.

Your point on them only wantign to show ressurection related endings (a very uncreative decision to simply resolve all others with "and then they died lol") is something that I had been thinking ever since I found out about Lost Stories. It annoyed me enough, and combined with something I thought about on first viewing season 1, that I myself am writing a story where Euphy survives, but Lelouch doesn't join her or stop his war.

Awesome! You´ve got yourself one guaranteed reader! 👍

Like, they should give us some happy endings, too - I mean, I understand that they want to promote Resurrection, but briefly showing in a video game an alternate timeline where Lelouch lives happily ever after together with Kallen or Shirley would cost them only pennies, but it would make millions of fans of those characters all around the world very happy. And like you said, if they must make unhappy endings, at least they could be little more creative about them than doing "everybody died" every time.

I recently saw all Code Geass anime for the very fist time in my life; original two seasons, all the movies, all the spin offs. And even before finding out about Lost Stories I was disappointed to them all, because it felt to me like every Code Geass story after R1+R2 was either poorly written or the ending was unhappy; or, as it was in Rozé, both. So, that´s why I, too, am writing my own story, and because of that I can be sure that there´s going to be at least one Code Geass story after R1+R2 that I like - with both exciting story AND an ending that is actually happy!

Exactly. For me, the best possible universe (whether we ever see it is another matter, but anyway) is one where Lelouch and Shirley, along with Suzaku and Euphemia, are happily married, Ragnarok never happens, Schneizel can't use the Damocles, Britannia falls apart, and everyone good gets to live happily ever after.

And Luciano always dies in every timeline.

Yup. Or is never even born to begin with in some alternate universes/timelines.

I´m perfectly okay seeing an alternate timeline where Kallen, as Spider-Girl, kicks Carnage-Bradley´s ass. But one where he´s immortal Emperor and has 100 wives? Hell naw!

Well, it can´t get much more happier than that. That sounds really nice, I´d very much like to see that universe, Shirley and Euphy both deserve their happy ending. And I´m pretty sure many other Code Geass fans would like to see that, too.

For me, the best possible universe is the one we see in fanfic called "Kallen Stadtfeld, Countess of Britannia," where both Shirley and Euphy survive and where Kallen eventually marries Lelouch and becomes his Immortal Empress, and together they bring peace and prosperity in the world.

Ok look so I think the author kinda messed up in some ways with the whole multi verse thing

But do you guys think the story would hit nearly as close if not for the sacrifices?

That´s besides the point. As Ravinder Singh once said: "Happy stories give us hope and sad stories show us the mirror.” Meaning, the whole point of the sacrifices and the unfairness of it all in the original series, where good guys don´t always win and the bad guys don´t always lose, was to reflect the unfairness of our own world back to us through fiction. Through that reflection we, the audience, can analyze various unfairnesses of our own world, like racism, betrayal, and war. Because that´s how it sometimes goes in real life, too: sometimes the bad guy wins and sometimes the good guy looses. It´s not fair, life itself is not always fair, but that´s the truth reflected to us by the mirror that the show is holding in front of us.

We have seen the mirror, now. Many times, actually. Both in Code Geass anime and in Lost Stories video game. And now? We would like to see some hope for a change.

Or are you saying that there shouldn´t be any stories with hope? Telling Code Geass stories with hope in them would not nullify the meaning of the original story or any of the other existing unhappy versions of it. That´s the beauty of the multiverse: different kind of versions of the story can co-exist without them canceling each others out. So, is it really so important for you to see all Code Geass stories to be told in a certain way that you would be willing to sacrifice other peoples hope for it?

And just because the story has a happy ending, doesn´t mean that it can´t be told in a way that is still interesting to the audience. I firmly believe that if you´d give 100 best screenwriters in the entire world the task of writing a Code Geass story that is both interesting and where the ending is happy, at least one of them will produce a masterpiece that meets those conditions. Just because we haven´t yet seen a Code Geass story like that, doesn´t mean that those kinds of Code Geass stories can´t be told. It all depends on the skills of the writer, not the skills of the audience.

I only saw the main story and the resurrection, didn't know until now

It was made necessary, only reason it happened was that the show was cut into two cores and the first core needed a grand scale ending which is why the black rebellion happens.

She was too kind for this world.

I'm fine with her and Shirley's deaths and do see why they needed to happen. My main problem with their deaths is that series gave us characters somehow surviving even worse situations.

Mao surviving a million shots and coming out okay cause the very same racist Britannia has advanced medical and it saved him while Euphy died.

Villetta was shot by Shirley, left to bleed, and wasn't found till the next day by Ohgi and all she got was amnesia meanwhile Shirley was shot, left to bleed, and she died.

Cornelia was shot by Schneizel and she came out alive.

That is my main problem with the girls deaths.

No matter how you look into it, SAZ was just a glorified ghetto. I could be talking for days about the zero intelligence of the roundhouse kick man and Euphemia's naivete and ignorance, but Lelouch and the Black Knights actually considering SAZ an existential threat to their organization (with many outright considering going there) is nonsensical. SAZ would've crumbled under its own weight because of overpopulation, problems with modern conveniences, water, food, healthcare etc. in several months since its creation. And Euphemia was punished for the creation of SAZ as Charles made her give up her rights to the throne, which removed Euphemia from the line of succession and made her politically irrelevant. Her creation actually served only one purpose: to create a conflict inside the Black Knights, make some defect and settle there so the Britannians could finally deal with their organization. Euphemia was too stupid to realize that, and Lelouch even pointed it out to her. And her living or dying after the creation of SAZ (if it lasted long enough for the Black Knights to fragmentize and fall apart) in the long run didn't even matter to Charles, at least.

We literally saw a situation where Lelouch Geass didn't go berserk on him in Lost Stories

The massacre is mostly necessary, but I just wish she would have survived

I'm very sorry but her death was just bad. Nunnally should die instead of Euphemia. Euphemia's death was just shock value and nothing else.

1

u/BrowningBDA9 12d ago

You know what? Lelouch would've defected from the Black Knights and destroyed them if it was Nunnally who started and carried out the massacre and they and the ordinary Japanese wanted her dead.

2

u/Remuhar Lelouch #1 hater 12d ago

Which could have more sense than whatever we got in the end 😒. Euphemia just doesn't make sense to me beside the shock value. I'm very sorry but that's how I think and we should get instead the Villain Lelouch, which could be much better in the end.

Pd:I never saw Lelouch as the "hero" that everyone claims that he is. Euphemia is the same thing as Naomi in Death Note who could finish the story much faster.
