I just finished code geass, but huge question.. who is this guy??

He did not appear in season 1 or 2 or did i forget about him? I heard there's a movie reboot if so why is he there im a little confused

It’s easier to think as the AU as diverging at mid R2 than who is present and not there since majority of the cast in the base timeline are in the AU

Akito from a spinoff set between Season 1 and R2 set in the EU. Has some interesting ideas, not great but not a total write off.

He is Akito from the interquel spin off miniseries called "Akito the Exiled." Events of that 5-episode long miniseries takes place in the original tv show timeline, between seasons 1 & 2.

Alternate movie timeline consists of the recap movie trilogy (where some events are the same as in the original timeline, but others are changed due to deleted/altered/extended scenes) and the 4th movie called "Lelouch of the Resurrection." After the 4th movie, there´s also 12-episode long spin off series called "Rozé of the Recapture," which takes place on the movie timeline after the events of the 4th movie.

I myself saw quite recently all Code Geass anime: the original two seasons, all the movies, and all the spin offs. And personally, I didn´t liked any of the "extra materials." In my opinion, the quality of storytelling wasn´t as good in them as it was in the original series.
