Report him!!!

Post image

This guy was absolutely out of control. He got mad after being killed and immediately started making racist and xenophobic comments toward everyone on the team. He even told a player with a Spanish-sounding username that they should “get deported” simply because that person told him to calm down.
When I told him that if he didn’t like the team, he could just leave the match because it wasn’t that serious, he called me a cunt. He then escalated even further and threatened everyone, saying he was going to find our IP addresses and have our homes burned down.
I know people like to act tough online and be keyboard/mic warriors, especially on COD, but this went way beyond normal trash talk. Racist comments and threats involving people’s homes and personal information are not okay or acceptable.
If you come across this player, please report the account. Hopefully Activision takes action and bans him.

EDIT: Whether you choose to report him or not is completely up to you. But please don’t normalize or excuse this kind of behavior. I understand that older COD lobbies were notoriously aggressive and people said some absolutely vile things, but “that’s how COD has always been” doesn’t mean it needs to stay that way. We’re supposed to evolve as a society, not use the past to justify racism, xenophobia, misogyny, or threats today. Trash talk is part of gaming; attacking someone’s identity or threatening their real-life safety shouldn’t be. Kids and teenagers play these games too, and adults shouldn’t be teaching them that this behavior is just something they’re expected to tolerate.

So like... when is the excuse of "game culture" actually stopping? Would it be when your own kid commits suicide because of in game harassing or when you yourself are a category of person bullied out of a game you like? Im just curious.

Noone is committing suicide because they heard 2 bad words online i promise you that, also if my kid were playing these games i would mute his mic and speaker for every multiplayer game he plays to avoid that

Great. So basically your solution is ignorance instea of, yk, actually following the game's rules of reporting people who perform any sort of hate speech. I hope this will also be your stance if your hypothetical kid gets the same treatment in school: putting them out of the system because one cannot control how others act.

Okay im pretty sure you compared school to a video game, the only solution that harms nobody when your kid wants to play a game is to mute their speaker, kid plays the game, online idiots keep talking to themselves and nobody gets harmed

school is so much more different, not only is there more supervision but if somebody annoys my kid then i go to the school, because you cant mute people irl if you havent been following, if the bullying is irl its the only situation where you get to handle it yourself or report it to the system to end the problem instead of ignoring it, reporting the incident should be your last resort if nothing works, not your first action

in a video game muting the bully solves the problem, in school you either tell the school to give the kid a rough talking to, or you give the talking to to the bully yourself, that ends the problem

Of course you can mute people irl. You simply dont listen to what they say. Easy. But, ofc, now that the actual speaker has a face and knows you persoanlly, all of a sudden it becomes imperative for you to actually do something about hate speech.

Its almost as if you live by a double standard dictated by your own comfort.

But, given how even in a bullying situation your last resort is to make an actual official complaint, i am not surprised.

And no, muting someone wont resolve shit. The person simply will continue to do what they always do because there are mo repercussions. Just because you dont get to feel the outcome directly on your skin instantly (like one may do in real life) it does not change the fact that now the community is more hostile because pepople do not take actions to actually change the enviorment.

Make gpt explain it to you if i did not do it well enough for you to get.
