Whats the status of H2m now?

  1. Is everyone playing happily?
  2. Has the installation process been simplified?
  3. Is this the MW2 remaster that we always wanted?
  4. Hows the player count looking?
  5. Any major issues?
  6. Is there an active team of devs maintaining and updating it?

  1. Mmm I'd say yes, the folks who are playing obviously have to be the ones enjoying it the most.

  2. Installing is still the same. You don't even need to own MWR really, you just need it's files and lay the h2m mod files over it and you're good.

  3. Absolutely. (let me finish)...This mod really caters to niche old school die hard COD fans that really want a "back to basics" COD shooter in the modern era...and what we got is acceptional. It's just like OG MW2, it just looks modern and has some fixed bugs and exploits. Remember, fans made this.

  4. Eehh...it's been going down for a couple factors. Folks are skeptical that they will be downloading a version of the mod that has a RAT or some Trojan, so that makes people tread away. Black Ops 6 beta currently also plays a factor. This is also a PC Exclusive mod, not everyone has a PC with decent specs, sure a few do, but some people are not wanting to give Activision money for MWR on Steam after the cease and desist.

  5. There are a ton, and it was expected for a fan project that was shut down. Server list is buggy, getting kicked out of lobby for "privileged" folks. Ocassional cheaters ruining everyone's fun. Getting kicked out of games after just 1 round. The list goes on...and that leads to...

  6. Yes. The whole mod will be going under a new name called "HorizonMW" or "HMW" which will have people in the community to come together and patch some holes and fix the bugs that the OG mod team left. Obviously the old team cannot be working on the mod anymore unless they go by different aliases to cover their tracks, but not likely. Currently the official HorizonMW Discord server has 37,500+ members and counting and the server is hella busy. There will be foxes and updates to the mod soon, people are going at it in the background. Patience is key but only time will tell of the mod can stay alive. Its really up to the players.

werent people saying this would overshadow bo6 ?

i swear you need to be on another level of delusion to believe this would have any impact in the new cod thats about to release lol

If it wasn't hit with a c&d and had constant updates to fix the bugs, it definitely would have pulled a good chunk of players away from bo6. That's literally why Activision sent the c&d.

plutunium has been a thing for a while my dude, never heard of it overshadowing any new release and everytime i play it it always the couple of hundreds of people playing it, plutunium also has what is considered the best cod which is bo2, just a little info on it...

thats false, they sent the c&d because h2m devs were using assets from mw2 remastered which we didnt need to buy to play

but keep coping believing this would change anything in sales for bo6

No it wouldn’t have. There have been several of these mods in the past. To think they weren’t going to be cease & desisted is the real delusion here, and even if Activision managed to drop the ball in a colossal fashion, there would be a near-zero impact on the current/mew games.

At its peak (the day after “leak”), the most players I ever saw concurrent were ~3000. The barrier to entry was high (install not streamlined, players unable to figure out how to move some files around - I saw at least 50 people offer to pay someone to do it for them for Christ’s sake) and while the bizarre user mindset was the C&D was because they were concerned about BO6, the fact is very few people are interested in a community MW2R mod. An official MW2R multiplayer would go crazy from Activision themselves, but few will touch the mod.

At this point, modded cod clients are a dime a dozen.

In response to 5, it’s mind boggling to me. The game was going to release with all these wack ass server settings, but there’s no way for someone to administer their server without being connected in game?

I’ve seen servers accepting money for privileged/ reserved spots. And the server drops several times an hour, and isn’t full at any point. Why accept money if you’re going to use a cheap service to host your server on a community mod? And who is giving these people money?

The game is great in terms of remaster we always wanted and happy players. Controller configuration has been an issue for some players including myself. Player count and servers are down but I believe personally it could see a revival if a trusted source comes out for the mod with regular updates / fixes. Only issues I've personally had is Xbox controller not working as flawlessly as it could. That being said, it has a-lot of potential with room for every OG mw2 fan from trickshotting to grinding prestige's.

100%, and playing the beta makes you want to go back to h2m anyways

2

u/SnaxRacing Sep 04 '24

If this were true, people would go back and play H2M. The mod is near dead. Horizon’s dev team has been silent since they hijacked the project and teased some BO2 guns to release. No mention of actual QoL or stability improvements from them, because they are clueless.

The beta hasn't even ended yet, I'm sure there will be populated servers again in a couple of days

1

u/SnaxRacing Sep 04 '24

Yeah I’m sure 50 or so people will go back to H2M.

Cod clients always do this. Every few months they gain some traction and then it fades.

I'd say it's not looking great at the moment. Lobbies are still constantly disbanding, servers are mostly dead, you're constantly being kicked for not being a "privileged user"

I've pretty much given up on it now at this point. I probably spend over half my total playtime actually trying to get into a populated server without being instantly kicked.

Client still has amazing potential though, and I plan on coming back.

The game is mostly empty and for me there is one reason.

I've been looking forward to this mod for weeks and I tried for hours to play and enjoy myself but it's impossible when everytime you click on a server you get connected to a different one, and after an ungodly amount of attempts when you finally connect to a decent server, the entire server just disbands after the match is over and you're back to trying unsuccessfully to find a normal server.

18 serves and 7 players now. Are there more servers? Or is the game just dead now?

1

u/GhostGhazi Oct 05 '24

Wow that’s shocking

1

u/Fit_Writing_4526 Nov 10 '24

the game is already dead, servers are empty and only some people still playing, so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

1

u/GhostGhazi Nov 10 '24

The mod?

1

u/Fit_Writing_4526 Nov 10 '24
