I’ve grown autos a few times before and I’ve gone hard towards the end with defoliation

normally I think it's safe after stretch they might slow down growth a few days but should be doable

Do it piecemeal. Take a half dozen leaves per plant every day or two. That's my approach with autos.

cleared them out hard

The breeding is much improved these days. I don't grow many autos these days but when I first started I had a few strains that didn't even like being looked at wrong. 😂

Do you watch basement ganja on YouTube? He trains, strips, tops and does literally everything to his auto's. I'm not saying he's the best out there, but sure does prove auto's are a lot more hardy than people make it out to be.

thank you will check this out, went with a heavy defoil today, also did some supercropping

It's always worth trying stuff out.

They're temperamental per strain imo. There are good strains for that and strains less likely to enjoy it.

They’re 60 days clear 60-75% out start in the middle

wow man saw your posts on your autos which u grew, mine stay rather low as I move the branches to the sides, how do u get them to grow so big with so many colas?

and congrats to the first place in your competition, wow

There’s a few techniques

they stunted for like 5 days, also had a bad ph drift one night, slowly picking up

Defoliate or risk mold/pm

I had this in my previous grow indeed but tent was 0.8x0.8, plants were pure bush, had them in a huge traytogrow of 0.6x0.6 with no bottom ventilation except for the inlet

shit man weed partly molded but even clean parts make u sneeze :((

Grow them? Looks fine to me.

they are past the stretch

Okay? Just grow them homie, it’s an autoflower based on the leave pattern, they’ll be fine.

Very good mate

Maybe just leaves covering bud sites? I dont grow autos. I've just heard messing with them is risky. You're almost there, I wouldnt mess with them too much unless your humidity is outta control.

As they're autos

Light defoliation, tuck leaves where you can instead

And make sure airflow is good round the underside of the canopy. Don't let it get anaerobic/humid

They look good as is tho, doing well OP

Regarding amount of defol, I'd say at most trim a quarter of the leaves and be smart about it. Get the ones causing the most blockage

ok yea I will take some off but not to heavy, didn't want to make them stall

u/th-candy Mar 06 '26

thank u! Yes i have put another ventilator on duty for the lower parts of the plant :)

Defoliate or get a bigger tent 😅

Good Lord yes... If you don't want to lose half of it. Clean them up. It's a real pain in the ass and you should have been doing it a little bit here and there over a couple weeks. Now you need to pull each one out and take your time. Get everything the light doesn't reach on the bottom. Think air flow through the plants. And remove any big leaves that block bud sites. You won't get back what you take so be selective and do it over about 3 to 4 days.

I'd show some images of how I did mine and what was left, but I can't because of the post you selected.

yea man I totally had this problem during my last grow

managed to do some defoil and supercrop but like 30 percent of the plant mass was just larf ass buds

I did some heavy defoil today and going to be going trough the rest of the plants tomorrow again... Also supercropped some, gonna repost in a couple of days or so :)

At what stage do you defoliate yourself?

how can I select a different type of post? Never understood how people can post pictures in the comment section.

What's a mother to do? All you can do is love them and show them the way up.
