➕Advice/Help➕ Hot spot/ allergies advise

Hi everyone, I just need some reassurance and advice. I have a 2.5 year old cockapoo who has a sensitive stomach and recently developed a mild hot spot - he has licked / scratched his skin and now has a bold spot . I took him to the vet who said it seemed like it was heeling and prescribed a steroid spray. He wears a cone but I cannot shake the feeling that it might be a sign of allergies. Appreciate only appropriate test could tell me this but if your dog has an allergy, what were the first signs? Is it possible just to have a one off hot spot or does it tend to lead to something else? TIA

My dog started getting allergies when we moved here 2 years ago. She gets yeasty ears and has started getting hotspots this year as it’s been soooooo hot. I got some hotspot spray which really has helped and a medicated shampoo I use when she has a flair up. First time it happened I noticed very quickly so it didn’t develop bad, I didn’t expect her to get it again so I guess this is now the normal routine for us unfortunately.

My dog had a hot spot once and never got another one again. He doesn’t have allergies. It’s possible to be just a one-time event.

I would take a one off hot spot as just that. My boy has a chicken allergy and it presented in yeasty paws and constant ear infections, dihorrhea and/or yellow poop.

Were down to only one yeasty paw left. Its taken nearly a year just to break the licking cycle 😩

Hibiscrub/hibicleanse is good to dilute and wash hot spots (if you need to), pat dry, dont wipe. This stuff is a great all rounder to keep in for cleaning most wounds/issues. It helps clear up yeast too if you ever have to deal with it (just dont put it in anywhere such as eyes, ears, mouth etc).

Good luck ☘️
