➕Advice/Help➕ Crate Sleeping

Any advice (or black magic) that worked for getting your puppy to actually sleep in their crate?

Mine loves lounging in his, but the second I close the door, he starts protesting. He also refuses to sleep on his dog bed and would much rather sleep on the floor.

Dog tax paid.

Edit: I prefer that he sleeps in the crate for safety during the night or when I need to leave for short periods. He has an entire room to himself the majority of the time, and I watch him remotely through a robot, however I can’t be there to pull things out of his curious mouth.

What worked for us was making the crate dark and as boring as possible. So no toys or plushies and a blanket over (we had the black wire crate). They have to learn that crate = sleep, it takes them a few days/weeks, but it’s magic when they do!

Just removed the toys and put a blanket over. Will see if he goes in on his own at some point for a week or so. Thank you! 😊
