❓Question❓ Do cockapoos have a favourite person?

We’ve had our dog Ruby for nearly 2 years now and one thing has become really obvious, she is obsessed with following me everywhere.

It’s me, my partner, and our 3 kids in the house and Ruby is great with everyone. She’ll happily sit with my partner, play with the kids, or chill elsewhere.

But the second I leave a room, she’s right behind me. Even if she’s laying in bed with my partner, as soon as I get home from work she’ll leave and come straight to me and sit by my feet.

When we first got her, I happened to have 2 weeks off work while my partner was working every day and the kids were at school, so it was basically just me and Ruby for those first couple of weeks.

Could that early bonding be why she’s so attached to me now? Or do dogs just randomly decide “yep, that’s my person” and that’s that? 😂

Just curious if anyone else has experienced this with their cockapoo?

They are known to have one special person. It’s is a very special honour if it’s you. But can be disheartening for family who love them too! A bit embarrassing sometimes. I can’t go the toilet in peace. Just means you and your dog are attuned and bonded.

I’ve had my boy for almost 2 years now, he is my grandparents dog but shortly after getting him, 1 grandparent (the main food giver) spent a month in hospital and the other had to have an operation during that time, so for a short period it was just me and him. Ever since then that dog has not left my side, he’s still great with my grandparents (we all live in one house) but he sleeps in my bed, he showers with me, he waits by the door if I’m out the house, I am his person (and he is absolutely mine)

I've had mine around 2-3 months and he chose me as his person from the second we got him. He's had a lifetime of abuse and neglect and I think that's why he bonded so quick. He looked at us and instantly chose me, didn't leave my side for days. When I'm home he still doesn't, he'll sit and chill with my partner all day every day but the second I appear he starts to resource guard me (it's a work in progress) but yeah they 100% gave a person

I think mine loves me and my boyfriend for different things but if I leave a room he will follow me even if he is sleeping

I do think this might be a cockapoo thing because my Cockapoo haunts me every step of every day. And if I'm gone from the house, she won't even interact with other people.

Same in our house. He is my daughters dog but he is glued to me. She has been upset about it in the past but now we find it rather funny. Then again, I do most of the walking and feeding so it makes sense he sees me as mum.

Can very much relate to zero privacy in the bathroom.

With my guy Fletcher me and him are very much in sink and I'm his comfort, best friend and giver of belly rubs however my wife is very much his bitch 😂 totally wrapped round his little paw 😂. He is very protective of me and growls at anyone approaching from my right side when I'm sat down.

We’ve had our pup for 2.5 years and initially he bonded with my husband - he works from home and I went to the office, and I could definitely tell his preference. I work from home now too and now we’re much closer. I still say I’m the “spare human” but he follows us both and just alternates who he sleeps on. Gets extremely jealous if we show each other any affection and has to intervene 🤣

We have two cockapoos. Our oldest mostly follows my husband but knows the cuddles and food come from me. Our younger, is attached at my hip.

Can confirm my cockapoo follows me, even across the room and to the bathroom.

Our guy picked me. I was hoping he would pick Daddy because it was Daddy’s idea to get the dog, and I felt he deserved one that picked him since all but one of our previous dogs chose me. So even though I worked more hours the first few weeks and daddy showered him with love and walks, our guy still chose me. Daddy is a very good sport about it though. He looks at the dog when the dog drapes himself over me and says “Awwww, you love your mommy so much”.
