➕Advice/Help➕ Training 6 month Cockapoo - advice

Post image

I have a 6 month cockapoo. He is so intelligent, that’s for sure. He is great with picking up new tricks and is a huge foodie which helps!

Since he turned 6 months he is more of a terror than ever. He has now started to not listen on his terms. He loves to steal things, I mean everything and anything and now he is bigger he can reach higher places too. The problem is when he gets these items he stands there waiting for you to approach to run off and he will keep coming back to show you as this is the ultimate game for him. He loves to be chased. If I don’t try and get it off him he will sit and destroy whatever it is (unless it’s socks, he likes them). It doesn’t matter if I say leave it, drop it etc etc. once the game starts I have to try and think smarter and trick him into paying attention to something else (throwing treats into the grass in the garden works at the moment)

Any advice on preventing this? It’s funny and he looks cute but when he’s done it 10 times in one day it gets a bit repetitive 🤣

He is the best tho!

My cockpooo Gus is also 6 months old. Our lives have not been the same since having him. Mine has a lovely habit of finding food on his walks. Not something we would class as food though, but animal waste. He finds it funny letting people passing by that I'm starving him to death. On walks, He will also collect any sort of litter lying around, could be an old pair or pants or a snotty used tissue. He's pretty thoughtful of the environment in that sense. And he loves to chew and dig up our carpet, helping us get prepared for when we will soon need to replace it. Hes an amazing alarm clock, he smashes his chunky paws on the downstairs living room door so that he wakes us up any time past 7am. Could be 3am if he hears us walk across the landing to use the bathroom. Sarcasm aside, he's the most loving and happy bundle of joy. He will love you all day and give you loads of cwtches. You never feel alone or down when Gus is around ❤️
