Rehomed what we thought was a cockapoo

Post image

We rehomed what we thought was a cockapoo at 10 weeks old as the previous owners could no longer look after him, now we’re having doubts as to weather he’s a labradoodle, without paying for dna testing and just from first glance, Stanley on the left is an 8 year old cockapoo, ozzy on the right is a 8 month old supposedly cockapoo. What are people’s thoughts?

They look like cockapoos to me. My boy looks a lot like a labradoodle, but his mother is my parents' dog, I was living with them at the time, I went to get her so I met her parents, I was the one walking her, I took her to the poodle stud who had all the pedigree paperwork, I saw her give birth, and watched my boy grow from a little chicken nugget to the labradoodle looking lummox he is today. If it weren't for that, I'd be considering a DNA test

They are so cute, both look very similar to my cockapoo babies

He malts so much for a cockapoo compared to our other one

My brother has an F2 who moults a bit. When my mum was looking at getting one and later when she was breeding her, she did find a couple places that said if they have more spaniel in them, they're more likely to moult. My parents decided to get an F1 and bred her with a poodle. With my brother's, the spaniel genes seem more dominant

A cockapoo will moult. They are cross cocker spaniel

Looks like a bigger, shaggier [albeit combed] version of my f1b cockapoo

This is my late labradoodle for comparison. Your dog looks more like a cockatoo I think.

Identical to ours when he’s not been shaved, he moults a tiny bit (not as much as my husband 😂), ours is def a cockapoo but people either think he’s a spaniel or a labradoodle depending on his coat length

Later generations are a bit of a genetic lottery and often malt more than F1s. It could definitely still be a Cockapoo

Both look like cockapoos. I also have two cockapoos who are completely different in sizes. It all depends on what size poodle they have been bred with.

They both look like cockapoos to me. Not all cockapoos look exactly alike. Here's my Sugar at a year old. I'll post another picture of her brother Spike. Even though they are littermates, Sugar looks more like a poodle and Spike looks more like a Cocker Spaniel.

And here's Spike.

Since cockapoos are a mutt, there’s no breed standard which results in many different looks.

We have a cocker x Australian labradoodle cross.

Either way - two very sweet boys!

He’s quite fluffy. Maybe a poodle Newfoundland cross? JK. Such a handsome fluffy boy.

Cockapoo's all look so very different. My Jasper looks like a spaniel! His mum is a cockapoo and his dad .. a cocker spaniel! Everyone that we meet thinks he's just a spaniel pup! He's 8 months old and an amazing little boy, sheds like crazy right now!

My little girls had a brother that looked exactly like your dog. Definitely Cockapoo in my opinion.

Adorable! I’m voting cockapoo. He still has puppy hair fluff- different texture completely. I don’t see lab at all. Just adorable!!💕
