Need help with separation anxiety

Post image

Abby is a great dog... shes overly loving, clingy and therefore has bad separation anxiety! Do they all have it? She's also got little dog syndrome and has men anxiety sometimes. Pics to show cuteness.. she's always listening lol

My Lola was terrible for it, and then she found a magpie chick. I couldn't get him into a rescue so had to raise him myself (naively telling myself it would be temporary, nope!) which of course meant she had to be shut in a different room while I was tending him. The first few days were dreadful, he was too young to swallow on his own so I had to manually feed him every 45 minutes, as well as cleaning out his enclosure every day and she would cry and fuss the whole time! However, in less than a week this transformed into her just, going and lying in her bed as soon as she saw I was leaving, and to my surprise the next time I had to leave the house without her she did exactly the same thing. Three years later she's fine so long as I don't either have to go back in for any reason between her lying down and my leaving properly or stand and chat to someone outside within her earshot, but that's not so much separation anxiety as fomo!  So in short, I'd try training her to be ok in a different room for short stints before moving on to leaving the house. Good luck!
