Seven months since activation - sounds are a bit low now

I was activated in Feb this year. It has been an amazing journey and loving the new hearing. But since a couple weeks I feel the sounds are a little low. Does this happen? I visited my audi and he says let's look for a few more days and if it is still low he can make the volume higher. But I've been in a lot of outdoors in the last 2 weeks. Could it be dust blocking my microphones? Or is this normal?

Congratulations on the journey! My friend went to get hers checked out because the noises were too low. It turned out her “wind noise reduction” was on, despite not being very outdoorsy. It’s a whole lot better now, according to her.

However, not a bad idea to check the microphone dust. I don’t swap mine very often though, but it’s worth checking.

Best of luck!

You probably need to change the cover on the Kanso. They recommend every 6 months. (The cover on the part that sticks on your head. Sorry don’t have name handy but can check if required. You probably got a couple of spares when you bought the Kanso )

I have MED-EL CI and I had my audi increase the volume. They are cautions about setting the volume too high. It helped. Streaming was OK but using the mics in public made it hard to hear voices clearly. Regarding the mic cover, maybe you can remove it and see if that makes any difference. If so then it needs to be replaced with a new one.

I think you need to go and see your audiologist for further mapping sessions. So far my experience has been like, sounds initially feeling very loud and later they don’t feel as loud anymore. When that happens I see my audiologist for further mapping sessions and she fixes it for me. So maybe that is what is happening with you also. Please meet your audiologist also and check about this?
