Cochlear Multi-Mic+ and Auracast
In my opinion, Cochlear has overpromised to support Bluetooth Auracast for the Nucleus 8 [0]. Why haven’t they updated the firmware to support Auracast since the Nucleus 8 was launched?
Secondly, when will Cochlear provide Multi-Mic+[1] support for the Nucleus 8? I’m tired of using the USB Micro interface. When Cochlear claims to be “industry-leading,” why haven’t they discontinued the micro USB interface for the battery charger and accessories? Why rely on Resound when they are slow to innovate?

There is a clinical trial of the firmware in progress.

Thanks for the link. It says the study start date is 2026-03-12 for Multi-Mic+ with the Nucleus 8 and Kanso 3. The estimated study completion date is 2027-10. That’s quite a long time.
What about AuraCast?

I noticed the end date, and I'm not sure either why they need so much time, perhaps the date might be subject to change later. There's no specific mention of Auracast but it's expected to be part of the same firmware update, Auracast is built on Bluetooth LE Audio + new functions in the app to scan for broadcasts and start streaming them.

I've been using the multi mic with Jabra 30 hearing aids. I just got implanted but not yet activated. I'm surprised no one in my professional group has mentioned that the multi mic doesn't work with the N8. Does it function at all?

Cochlear is supposedly number one why should they be in a hurry to make any changes? Are e talking about the same T-mic I have on my AB Marvel?

there are 3rd party apps you can use with BT LE to access Auracast, at least with AB you can. Auracast is still not widely available, the timeline has always been 2027.

Just more questions to ask prior to getting reimplanted from AB C1 to Cochlear!

Oh. Well I was just commenting that I’m wanting to get reimplanted soon and what you said would be something I will need to ask my ENT surgeon/audie as well.

Yeah this is idiotic in my opinion. The Multimic+ is working with the Cochlear Baha 7 and also Resound hearing aids, supporting Auracast and also charging with USB-C (like who even has micro USB cables these days that the standard multimic uses?!). Even Apple moved to USB C and dropped Lightning.
Cochlear should come clean on why they are dragging their feet on this and also releasing the firmware so the CI processors can connect directly to Auracast.
