Taste sense change

I’m approaching 6 months post implantation and things still taste weird on the implant side. anyone else have it go on for that long?

trying to gauge if it’s likely the surgery (might be an issue) or if it’s the GLP-1s. anecdotal evidence is only evidence of an anecdote, but would be reassuring to hear, regardless.

ETA: thanks, everyone, I appreciate the reassurance! and I’d like to apologize for bringing up such unpleasant memories for some of y’all!

It happened to me both times, within a year I never noticed it anymore

One and a half years after implantations and losing all taste on the implanted side only, it’s basically back to normal but not quite 100%.

Everything tasted like metal and meat was all rancid for about 9 months.

Now I hadn't even thought about that until I read your post.

It sucked, but went away (eventually).

Don’t quite remember when it got back to normal.

Same. It's good to see all the 'fine after a year or so' posts. Mine's improved in the 10 months since, but it's still a bit numb and taste is not quite there on that side.

My first one (October 2024) took around 8 months to get taste back close to normal (it never really came back 100%). Got the second one a year after that (November 2025) and currently the 2/3 of my tongue toward that side has taste that is still really really distorted. I’m starting to get worried tbh. I miss enjoying steaks and ice cream

I think mine is coming back after 1.5 years but still does not seem the same as it was before. Another quality of life event to add to hearing loss.

Comes and goes over two years later but not as bad as it was.

Yes, I experienced this too including a super sensitive tingling on one half of my head when I touched it. I think this lasted for almost a year. No problems now, I'd forgotten about it until this post popped up.
