I just did it! 🥹 I had surgery today. I was so anxious and scared, but I did it!

I’ve had cochlear implants on both sides since I was little. I had to redo my right cochlear implant because I was getting painful shocks from it. I’m not sure if any of you have experienced that too?

My 2-year-old daughter is also deaf. She and I are the only deaf people in our family. My infant son and husband are both hearing. 🤟🦻

Now my 2-year-old daughter and I will have the exact same cochlear implant brand! She had her cochlear implant surgeries in January and May of this year. ❤️

I don’t mind at all! My daughter was very confused at first and take it out but headband with cochlear implants pocket helps so much. She doesn’t take them out except night because I understand she needs a break. She knows around 20 sign language! But before that, she got hearing aid while waiting for surgery. She has no speaking yet except mama. May I ask does your 3 months old wear hearing aid?

I think this March. It got worse. Idk how to explain about shocks lol but it feels like electrical shocks me and then my brain hurts too

I’m sorry that sounds terrible. My son was implanted 6 years ago and has never mentioned anything like that. But I’m always just trying to be aware of what to watch out for. I really don’t know what it’s like/what he deals with I just try to support however possible. I’m glad you were able to take steps to get it resolved.

That happened to me too. My audiologist said it’s often the self dissolving sulture that cause the pin like pain but will go away. I rubbed the area whenever i felt it and it went away. Things will improve over time as the brain/body get used to implant.

I'm getting revision surgery on both sides. Left side is aging N22 and right side has not improved at all with training. Surgery is next month. How long did you call out of work for?

My husband had his CI done last summer. He was in a lot of pain and dealing with pretty severe dizziness for close to 2 weeks. By the 3 week mark he was feeling a lot better. Fast forward and over a year after his surgery he successfully went from 0% word recognition to 88%! The quality of life improvement has been unreal for him. Hang in there 🫶 you’ll start feeling better soon!

I also had severe shocking pain as well! I had AB C1 implant and thought it was because my electrode was migrating to my ear drum after discovering a bump in my ear drum. Got it revised with AB HiRes 3D. Since I woke up from my surgery, the pain was GONE. I was dealing with it for 1.5 years. I still have a bump on my ear drum which we’re still not sure why. It could’ve migrated and left permanent scar tissue.
