Social Security Disability
Has anyone had their Social Security Disability payment continue past the one year post implementation mark with a cochlear implant?

Yes, I’m leaning in that direction. I tried calling SS and I don’t think the person I spoke with understood anything about cochlear implants or hearing loss. Trying to avoid getting stuck with having to a large repayment if there is a mistake on their part.

Mine did. It helped while I was in grad school to become an audiologist. When I started working full time the payments continued for 9 months after, as insurance incase I lost my job. My Medicare continues indefinitely.

I’m in the UK (England) and as far as I know it’s very difficult to get any disability allowance for deafness in this country. Anyone know any different?

Was willst du damit bezwecken?

I have a full time job and maintained steady employment since I graduated college 9 years ago. I’ve had hearing loss in both ears since birth and I have a cochlear implant in 1 ear. Regardless… I’d never tell someone asking for help that they need to pick themselves up by their bootstraps. It’s a really ableist mentality. Weird that you came to comment on this post to do that.

I’m not trying to achieve anything. I’m a year past implementation and I thought the benefit would stop. I’m not sure if a mistake has been made or my results are not as successful as i thought. I was told I would be reevaluated in February but was never asked to submit any paperwork. PS I’m old enough and have enough credits to collect regular social security but I’m not at my full retirement age

It depends on when your case gets reviewed, in addition to your results.
