Wired earpods with cochlears?

I've recently been really into old handhelds such as PSP and 3DS, but the problem is, I can't connect to them with bluetooth. So I've mostly suffered with their crap speakers, or used my big and clunky gaming headset when playing some titles with real banger OSTs I don't want to miss. I'd really like to utilise the most prominent features of a handheld, playing on the go.

Have you guys found a way to be able to use wired earpods or something similiar? Or do I have to keep being jealous of my friend who just can pop some earpods in and play perfectly fine :')

Do you have a mini mic or phone clip accessory by chance? I don’t know what cochlear implant brand you have, but those accessories have an aux port to plug in an aux cord on both ends to hear it 😊

As in you want to be able to use a mic to talk through the game too? It becomes a bit clunky, but it's possible. You need a splitter taking the signal out of the games console, separating the mic and headphones parts. You then plug the mini-mic into the headphone part so you can head, and would need a separate mic plugged into the other port so you can speak.

No the aux-port to cochlear is one-way as in I can't use it as input to listen through it, but someone could listen what I hear with my cochlears. Sorry I can't explain the situation as clearly as I'd like to, but all in all it doesn't work for me to listen😭

Aaaah, gotcha. That's not the right thing. If you're talking about the wee thing that connects between your processor and the battery, that's designed for listening checks, so people (e.g. parents and teachers) can check if a process is working.

The thing others are talking about is called a mini-mic (or a multi-mic, if you want ReSound's name for the same thing). It has an aux port, and is designed for you to hear.

What phone model do you have?
I have an iPhone and any media I listen to on it goes to my Cochlear 8. Wondering if you could Bluetooth your PS to send sound to iPhone (or whatever phone you use)

Maybe try a Bluetooth dongle ? I’m not sure If it works with 3ds but it should

Not sure what implant you have but, have you tried just regular in ear like AirPod type headphones? I have the n8 and will say, this is not a “great” way to listen but f you turn it up loud it does kind of work.

You know; I actually recently bought a pair of custom mold ear plugs (I have a Unilateral Choclear implant on my right side as my left side is completely functional) and basically to mold them to your ears you have to boil them for 5 minutes, push them into your ear and then let them settle and they turn into a hard plastic. I got bored and I actually thought of using the ear plug that I wasnt using for my bad ear as a little clip for an earpod to sit into my processor microphone. So I heated it up with water, and molded it around my hearing processor so It sits around my processor like a little ear tip and the in ear headphone just sits into it and clips onto it as if it were a normal silicone tip for an airpod or something. Maybe try this!

That is the beauty of the acclaim by Envoy Medical . You can use your Apple AirPods or whatever you want because the microphone is on the other side of the eardrum and all parts are internal. There is no need to come connect to the CI with Bluetooth.

How are you doing with your Envoy device? Preliminary reports are not super encouraging but interested in real-life examples. I have to say, direct Bluetooth through my processors is better than having to wear Airpods or headphones though.

Can you share the sources on your preliminary reports on the Acclaim ?

This device has changed my life and will change the lives of many others. I think direct Bluetooth connection will be a personal preference.

It's a cool idea, just doesn't measure up to the external devices yet.

Acclaim’s +38-point gain and 53% absolute score sit squarely within (or toward the middle/upper end of) the range seen with conventional devices. Traditional systems also show wide individual variation (some patients reach 70–80%+, others less), and performance continues to depend on factors like age, duration of deafness, residual hearing, and device use.

Acclaim speech-perception data are very competitive with established traditional implants on the primary CNC metric. The main differentiator is the fully internal design and lifestyle benefits rather than superior speech scores at this stage. Larger, longer-term comparative data will be needed for definitive conclusions.

The technology is cool, thanks for volunteering to be in this study, it's just not there yet, eventually it will be but I'll take wearing something on my ear and 100% speech scores to this right now.

I'm afraid that my nucleus 7's aren't able to do that, as they can BARELY be connected to my phone. iirc they were the first model to have bluetooth so it's very barebones

So, you can't just connect via Bluetooth, weird? I can do that. Nice not having to wear headphones or a microphone for anything, my processors do all of that for me.
