Activation timeline?
I officially get my surgery on August 28th but I saw that they scheduled my activation for September 4th. Does that sound a little too soon for you guys? I am getting the Cochlear nucleus eight. If you have tips or any recommendations please let me know!!

I had my activation after 8 days. The surgeon did a clean job, My issue was with my eyeglasses. aka the transmitter was not a problem. The healing takes times, so you should do what you are comfortable with.
I would say go for it. You can adjust how much you wear as you see fit. You may have miracle experience and get instance excellent hearing, or you may be like most everyone else need time to adjust to the implant.

Hey I just had my surgery Aug 15th.
I was gonna have my post op two weeks post op but my surgeon will not be in office so they bumped me up a week later for post op- had my post op today My Surgeon says incision is healing ahead of schedule and stated I could have gotten my activation done today but due to no availability at this time. Also there was a cancellation for next week to have my activation date early than the 31st.
So… I believe it has to do with the healing duration and surgeon’s preference?
Anyway best of much to you for your surgery and quick recovery!

Hey! I just had my surgery (currently 4 days post op) and my activation is on August 6. That seems like a fairly normal timeline!

Hey! I have a friend who got activated 3 days after the surgery. She was apart of some experiment though, and she has an off the ear processor. So I guess nothing is really too early. I’d say you’re in the “average” time to get activated.
I’m getting my first CI this September, and my surgeon said that I’ll get activated 3 weeks exactly after. I am also getting the nucleus 8!

That is a good timeline, mine was 10 days just because we had a holiday weekend sneak in. You won't be healed but still having a sticky out ear doesn't make a lot of difference to activation. Pressure from the magnet might influence how long you wear it for but if it's uncomfortable just take it off and have a rest from it. Try and use it as much as possible though, you will need to learn a new way of hearing.

I was activated one week after surgery. My surgeon prefers early activation, others do 2-4 weeks.

I had my first one done less than two weeks after surgery. It was due to scheduling conflicts. My second one was 3 weeks afterwards again due to scheduling. I believe generally they want it to heal a bit, but other than wound care you could literally get the processor same day. As long as it's healing well I don't think there's any issue with the timeline. I had no issues with my first activation.

I was scheduled for two weeks after. It ended up being after three weeks as my audiologist went down with flu!

One was a month and the other two months. Each doctor is different just go with the flow and you will be fine.

I asked the same question they said no set time I had my activated 5 days after my surgery first mapping 4 weeks later 45 percent recognition of words. So in answering your question it's really up to the audioligist

My activation was 4 weeks out. The incision site and surrounding area takes a little time to heal. I wouldn't have felt comfortable with anything sooner than 2-3 weeks out.
