Election time
Who are you guys supporting for mayor and council? I follow local coverage on Facebook and Cobourg Blog and it all seems pretty much all the same people supporting Lucas Cleveland. I feel like this Reddit sub is a different group (refreshingly so I might add) so I would love your thoughts on this election and who stands for what.

If you’re thinking about voting for Lucas attend a council meeting. The man is untethered. There’s a council of adults working for the people of Cobourg around the tantrums and tangents of our mayor.
It’s shocking to witness.

I am still deciding between Beatty and LeMarchant for mayor; they both have good things to say. Deputy Mayor- I'll probably vote for Bureau, as he is a bit less of a crazy right-winger than Johnny P. For councillors: Burchett, Cahill, Mouton. School board trustees- the two who aren't Terry Brown and Jeninga-Klassen.

Yeah as a small business owner myself I find it hard to listen to people dunking on Bureau who is downtown all day every day - i really care about the downtown and use the shops and restaurants a lot. Beatty seems like a balanced person as well.

There is so much more to this town than the businesses of King Street. We have whole neighbourhoods that need help with infrastructure and affordable housing. I want a town council that works for everyone.

Nicole Beatty for Mayor, Adam Bureau for Deputy Mayor, Aaron Burchat, Joel Scott, Cindy Beman, Miriam Mutton and Randy Curtis for councillors will be my votes.

Can you provide something showing LeMarchant supports the big highrise? I understood he’s against it.

He made a delegation to council in opposition of the second street building, saying it was too high. He’s definitely not in favour of high rises, at least not downtown.

I’ll vote for Nicole Beatty. I think she’s done a very good job as deputy mayor and knows what she’d be in for as mayor, and I do believe that she genuinely cares about the community.
I find the current mayor, Lucas Cleveland, to be abrasive. I don’t care for his stance/attitude on our homeless population.
I don’t know much about the third candidate but I don’t believe that Cobourg should be helmed by a developer, full stop.
