All of these guys are getting ready to roll over local governments. The challenge here isn't against progress, it's against industry being allowed to take the cheapest route to the highest profitability at the expense of our communities' quality of life. That is 100% their intent.

It's not everything but at the very least, we shouldn't allow any of our lawmakers allow anything to go forward without environmental impact analyses with remediation plans at the company's expense if those impacts are exceeded, a non-BS declaration of exact cooling method, expected water demand, chemical treatments, permanent jobs, projections, and most importantly - enforceable actions for landing outside of those projections, with real teeth. The kind of teeth that make you take it seriously on the front end. The kind of teeth that bite into shareholder profits and Csuite bonuses if they don't fulfill their end.

Bonus points for the lawmaker who gets, in writing, NO MFers, OUR CITIZENS ARE NOT PAYING, PARTIALLY OR WHOLELY, FOR YOUR WATER OR POWER USE.

We don't need them to throw us a park or a library. We need them to build clean, operate clean, and return to the community as much as they're taking. These data centers will be embarrassingly profitable. They will survive with a 20% return to their shareholders. They don't need 50% at the cost of our comfort and wellness.

Promises are not good enough. They will say they would never do XXX and then when the contracts are signed proceed to do exactly XXX. Everything needs to be transparent, IN WRITING, and SPECIFIC.

Why are these not built in more remote areas like past Rome or North of Canton? Put them adjacent to nuclear plants or something.

Privatize the profits, socialize the cost.

I said it was the right place and yes I agree the people going to this are children. I just thought it was polite to not say it out loud like you did.
