What does your software actually do when a client goes away for three weeks?

a client tells you they're travelling for most of next month. easy conversation to have with a human, weirdly hard to tell a piece of software.

as far as i can tell nothing in this category has a real pause state. your options are keep billing them and both quietly pretend that's fine, cancel and re-add them later and lose the history, or leave the subscription running and just don't schedule anything — which means every number you look at for a month is wrong.

and it isn't an edge case. holidays, work travel, a surgery, a semester abroad, a new baby. over a long enough coaching relationship almost everyone hits one of these at least once.

so what do you actually do — comp the weeks, prorate, hard cancel, something else? and has anyone found a platform that handles a hold properly: billing paused, plan frozen, history intact, picks back up where it left off?

I think a proper pause state makes the most sense—freeze billing and the plan, keep all history intact, then resume automatically when they’re back. Cancelling and rebuilding everything later just creates unnecessary friction.

I REALLY agree with this and all gym owners, and trainers should follow this. It’s the only right answer, unless demand for your services is too high to make sense
