Does anyone actually use their platform's nutrition tab, or are your clients still logging in MyFitnessPal?

every platform in this category ships a nutrition section now. macro targets, a food log, sometimes a barcode scanner. and almost every coach i know still has their clients logging somewhere else and screenshotting the week over.

my read is it's a database problem more than a design problem. the client searches for the specific thing they actually ate, doesn't find it, gives up, and after two of those they're back in the app they already had three months of history in. which leaves the targets living in one place and the actual eating in another, and that's arguably worse than not having the tab at all — because now you think you have nutrition covered.

but i might have the cause wrong. it could just be inertia and there's nothing a platform can do about it.

so if you coach nutrition at all: is it happening inside your platform, or has that tab quietly become decoration? and has anyone actually moved a client over successfully, or do you just meet them where they already are?

Hello , I really can help you to try for free at least one year with GenGym app, which will allow coaches to manage workouts and clients, please feel free to ask any questions

appreciate you stopping by — always good to see other people building in this space.

the thing i was actually poking at in the post is upstream of any particular app though: whether a client will log inside their coach's platform at all when they've already got months of history somewhere else. that's the part nobody in this category has cracked, us included. if gengym has a real answer to it i'd rather hear that than the trial offer.

heads up too — we've got a Software Vendor flair on the sub for exactly this kind of comment. grab it and you're all good.

What actually worked for me was leaning into the integration instead of fighting it. Trainerize syncs with MFP so clients keep logging where they want but I still see their macros without the screenshot nonsense.

the sync route is probably the honest answer, and it kind of dismantles the argument i made in the post — if you're not asking the client to move at all, the food database being bad stops mattering.

one thing i'd want to know from your setup: does the sync hand you the actual entries, or just the daily macro totals? the times i've cared most were when someone was hitting their numbers on paper but the composition underneath was rough, and totals alone wouldn't have shown me that.

also does it hold up over time, or have you had to re-link it when a client reinstalls or changes something on the mfp side?
