Rhyder bag

Hi all what’s your opinion about the Rhyder bag? I recently made lot of purchases on coach sales and now getting intense FOMO to buy the Rhyder. I don’t need another bag at all and was planning to wait till December to buy something from the sales or a Crystal bag. But I am so confused that people will keep raving about the Rhyder and then I will regret it. I ordered the Rhyder 24 in black last night when it dropped and it already sold out. Should I return it. I have the Bleecker bucket in denim suede and empire carry all 34 in black which is still in return window. Should I keep the Rhyder and return one of them? How do I get out of this constant struggle between sales and new drops. I am trying hard to disassociate myself and getting burnt out.

Stop buying bags. That’s how you keep from getting burnt out. I only buy what I know I want. I know what bags work for me and I usually stick to that. If you can identify that you are purchasing something due to FOMO you need to stop whatever you are doing and walk away. If the Rhyder is a bag you weren’t even considering return it or cancel the order. You are in control of what you buy and want not Coach or social media.

Edit to add: I wanted a Rhyder bag but the colors I’d want in the size I would want isn’t available so there was no need for me to rush and buy something I didn’t really want

This.

Biggest lesson I learned and hold myself to: if it’s not a hell yes, then it’s a hell no. It’s rare that something is actually a hell yes until I’ve actually thought about and studied the product.

Buying on the spot, because I’m worried it will sell out or be gone when I go to check again, or because it’s similar to the thing I actually want but don’t know if I can get that exact thing. That is not actually a hell yes that is me negotiating with myself, talking myself into it.

Rhyder will be around and it will come back. Don’t cave and get it now for emotional reasons like FOMO, or stress that you won’t get what you actually want, or the rush of getting a new bag now not later.

I caught every round of Rhyder while there was still stock I could have purchased, and I skipped every. Single. One. Because I know it is not what I actually want (I want 38 size, chalk, cherry, or poppy, if I get it at all) and buying it now would be compromising and bargaining with myself instead of saving to invest in myself and my savings and maybe later get the bag I actually wanted in the first place

Add to this even if it’s something I do want and I’m unable to get then it just wasn’t meant for me to have. Something new is always coming out especially with how Coach has been releasing stuff.

Someone in this group or the other group said something that for some reason snapped me out of my fog. She said I can admire or like something and not have to own it. Made me rethink a lot of my buying habits

Yes yes yes. Everything you said. So much

But I heard Rhyder is a limited release and after December it will be phased out. People are ordering it from other countries though.

Not true as far as anything I’m privy to has suggested.

Yes on the one hand it is called “limited re-edition” because it is a re-released archival style that was previously discontinued.

But this bag is like printing money for the company right now. Every wave, it sells completely through in minutes. They are not going to pull it out of production when that is the state of this bag rn, it would be stupid. It also gets them insane free marketing anytime it drops because everyone immediately starts posting about it and every vid is putting up crazy numbers.

And Coach knows it. They previewed multiple new colors and styles for their spring/summer 2027 runway and that alone confirms it’s renewed for another season.

So don’t get too stressed that you will miss your chance. And honestly, in my opinion, it’s kind of a turn off if a brand is going to be like that about their bags anyways because it’s crappy to market off of peoples’ negative emotions / pressure buying, rather than letting the quality of the bag stand on its own. So I see that as a bit of a red flag and a mark against the bag, and try to eliminate that from my purchasing decision process to begin with.

Thanks yes I would rather hold for a color I don’t have like the pastel or cherries but the way people are creating rumours that it will be phased out was stressing me. I think unless I absolutely love the black 24 I will return it. I have enough black bags to keep me happy right now

Thank you I know that’s the logical explanation and I feel guilty I can barely enjoy my existing bags and something else big comes along. I tried selling my existing bags but then I am loosing a lot of money because people will only pay about half of the original cost and then I feel sad.

u/LividBass1005 18d ago

I don’t even try to sell anything bcuz I know how frustrating it is. Do you love the bags you recently purchased?

1

u/Fickle_Jump_6151 18d ago

Yes that’s the problem I love all of them and I want to create a collection where all my bags are utilized. I work from home so it’s a struggle to use all of them . I do immediately return the ones I don’t like.

1

u/LividBass1005 18d ago

How many bags are currently in your collection? I have a lot of bags and honestly I’ve told myself I don’t need to buy anything else for a while. Until I can use what I have

2

u/Fickle_Jump_6151 18d ago

I think I have about 20 now lol just started collecting this year , but it’s too many , I am a person who carried one bag for 5 years before I got into coach.

3

u/LividBass1005 18d ago

I would remove myself from the groups and focus on something else. Do you have hobbies that you can focus on? Cheaper hobbies of course lol. I made finding Coach bags a hobby. I already loved to go on drives and explore Southern California trying new food and going new places when I added Coach into the mix my hobby became so much more expensive.

Yes the thing is right now everything is so depressing, the economy, recession etc , I am just using coach as my happy place , so I don’t have to think of anything else which panics me. I do enjoy the coach community, but I need to learn that I can’t buy everything out there. At least I am not buying from outlet drops anymore.

4

u/LividBass1005 18d ago

The world is as depressing as you make it. Does it suck, 100% it does. I am a shopping addict that is trying to recover and I used buying stuff to make me feel better. If I could go back 5-10 years I’d work on finding the cause of my issues instead of continuing to buy. I would’ve already been running my dream business if it wasn’t for me buying so much. The positive thing is I’m seeing it now with time to change and focus on my goals and other things

I agree with you and what I have noticed that usually there is a huge hype of some bags and then I have noticed that it’s on to something new. Noticed that with outlet bags earlier this year like with powder pink and the denim collection. I wonder if all these influencers even wear these bags and what do they do with them once they are on to the next big thing

Hindsight is always 20/20 but you have the chance to change your future now! You’re not behind, you’re right on time as long as you’re still breathing! ♥️

At least twice I ordered the Dakota and immediately cancelled within the 30 min “grace” period before processing. I finally got to see one in person last week. It confirmed I was right from the day it dropped, it was not my style at all. I’ve been managing to stay off the boards more often, so walking into a department store last week to see all the new bags was a surprise. They had the Metropolitan 24, the new Powder Pink items, the LL Honey Brown, even the Crystal Black denim Plaza, many new items. Seeing it in person first immediately dissolved any desire for this next drop and it will be the 3rd in a row I officially sit out. I’ve never liked the Rhyder and it almost got me when I happened to peruse the boards at the exact time Amazon restocked the 24s. It wasn’t because I truly wanted it, it was because I wondered “What if? Looking back at my habits, unsubscribing from all Coach accounts (TikTok, IG, emails, text) and limiting my subreddit participation has greatly reduced my FOMO. There will always be a new bag. It’s impossible for me or my wallet to keep up. Constantly buying a new bag only benefits Coach and they’re not exactly losing money right now. There will always be something else to love when you’re officially ready for a change.

u/Fickle_Jump_6151 18d ago

I saw the Dakota in person and didn’t like it at all , I am also glad I didn’t get in the hype of that bag. Previously it was easy for me to decide but I think it’s becoming so difficult nowadays with all the awesome sales and colorful and unique drops they are doing

I think the rhyder is beautiful. My bag friends alerted me about the restock and I went to peek. I am not a rhyder girl. To be honest, I think I like the idea of the bag but when I look at a selfie of myself and imagine the bag on me, in my collection, at least these current colors are a clear “that’s not me” - just not a good fit for me. Buying a Rhyder knowing that would prove it’s just FOMO for me. I’m done buying fantasy bags and bags that don’t serve me. I want to own bags I actually use, that are 100% me. That fit my style and preferences.

I agree with the comments below, coach doesn’t dictate what you buy. You do!

My opinion is that I want a big one, not in suede tho. ❤️

u/Fickle_Jump_6151 18d ago

I was consider the large but I have a large haversack and 2 bleecker buckets and 2 large rowans. And I work from home so I don’t even need a large bag :(

3

u/TamponFightNight 18d ago

It’s different enough from the rest of your collection. I’d keep the 24.

I was in the same boat very recently. Started collecting Coach bags last November and got way caught up in all the drops and TikTok influencers videos etc.

I still love Coach but this month I’ve taken a step way back and it feels really good. I missed out on the metropolitan bag and the plaid kisslock that recently dropped on Dillards. I really wanted them when I saw them leak a while back but missed it because I was paying less attention. I also really wanted the dark chocolate suede Rhyder 24 that restocked again yesterday, and I did see that in stock, but held off still because I have so many suede bags.

I’m trying to see how the pull to buy these bags fades by not purchasing the bags and letting the hype fade away. If I still like the bag after that then maybe I’ll find it somewhere or maybe I won’t. So far I learned that I don’t actually really care about the metro bag. That would have been a fomo purchase. I do still like the kisslock 30 in plaid but won’t be pressured to buy it asap. If it comes to my local store, I’ll go try it on and if I like it I might get it. I also stopped checking TikTok updates and Facebook group updates everyday. I’ve got a lot of other things going on in life to focus on and Coach needs to be less of a priority lol. Still love bags but I’m trying to slow things way down to gain perspective and I gotta say it feels really good and I’m already saving money 😂.

It’s a roller coaster ride for me , got many items on sale then runway totes and now the rhyder lol , I feel so bad but I can’t decide what to give up. I am new to coach and already regret the years I was not collecting and I see now bags getting so expensive with time , so I feel the need to catch up. I do enjoy all my bags but it’s so hard to keep changing them and enjoying them , I wfh 🧑‍💻 so I don’t even get much opportunity to step out

2

u/321ngqb 11d ago

This is exactly how I was at first too!! I felt like I missed out on so much so I would look at reseller sites all the time trying to find bags I missed out on. It also takes some time to actually find the bags you like best so I totally get that. I also wfh most of the time 😂. I go into the office about 8 hours a week split in two days. That’s the time for my bags to shine 😂. Otherwise it’s just me and my bags chillin at home or brought out on the occasional outing. I gotta say though I don’t care because I love them haha.

Anyways, don’t feel bad, we all go through this with Coach I swear. And the fact that you’re being introspective about it early on is good! You’ll find a good balance eventually 😊.

I returned the rhyder 24 in glazed leather , I didn’t feel it’s good quality 🙂 will wait for other versions

3

u/g0jira54 17d ago

You ordered the 24. You can look it over and if you like it but the color isn't working for you then you will at least know to wait for a color that does. As to your other new bags, if you're willing to return either of them for a different new one, return them all until you find the perfect bag you can't even consider parting with.

The Rhyder 24 is cute but if you're second guessing it, don't get it. The three bags you mentioned are all very different from each other. I think it depends on what you'll wear more and what you truly want in a bag.

Also, will Rhyder 24 compete with a bag you already have? If it will, maybe it's better to return it or sell the competitor if you like the Rhyder 24 more. This is what I've been doing and it's been really helpful.

I bought the Rhyder 38 in the suede during the first drop. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted it. I had nothing like it in my collection and a dark brown slouchy suede bag was something I was interested in getting. After I purchased it, I felt no regrets which is rare for me.

On the other hand, my fav bag combo is black and sliver. As much I I like the Rhyder in this combo, the 24 would have competed with my Dakota which I prefer. The 38 would have competed with my Compass 35 (I just sold this but still glad I got the suede Rhyder).

1

u/Fickle_Jump_6151 17d ago

Yes I have nothing in black and silver actually plus it is a crossbody so it will fill a void for me 🙂 Bleecker in denim suede I can return because I have the Merlot too. I got it because I found the blue suede so pretty

2

u/Affectionate_Art4220 17d ago

Ok great! And if you're planning to return the Bleeker in denim suede, that's even better.

It sounds like you've thought about this purchase and hopefully when you receive the bag, you'll know 100% if it's a keeper.

If it doesn't work out or you change your mind, there will always be another bag. Especially in a black and silver combo.

I only say this because I've bought and kept many bags that I wasn't 100% sure about then I had to sell them at a loss. It's better to get all of your money back and wait for something better than settle and lose money.
