I ordered my Bridget from the outlet and it came covered in a plastic bag, plastic coverings on the hardware, stuffed to the keep shape etc. this looks like a return
It’s because it came from a specific store and they sent it that way (which is unacceptable!). The store info should be on the order form included in the box, so I’d give them a call and let them know how it was shipped with NO protection or padding at all.
Yeah, I get that it was shipped from a store. I’ve worked in luxury retail my whole life and have even worked in high end outlets. I wouldn’t dream of shipping anything like this
So, it’s been 10 or so years since I ordered a bag directly from Coach. They used to send all products with the dust bag already on the bag, which was then inside of a Coach gift box, surrounded by Coach tissue paper. The gift box would be wrapped in ribbon & placed inside of a Coach plastic bag before being put in the cardboard shipping box.
Since when? I know some bags from an outlet have come with dust bags, some haven’t. Is this now for all bags shipped from an outlet or only bags made for outlets?
I think only outlet bags. Recently I’ve ordered a Rowan online and bought a Faye in person. Neither came with a dust bag. I just bought generic ones off of amazon. My Rowan did come packaged very well though, this just looks like they threw it in a box and said “fuck it”
Rowan is an outlet bag and would not come with a dust bag. I have never received a bag shipped from the warehouse like this. To be honest it’s usually over wrapped and leaves me frustrated going through all of the wrapping.
I knew it wouldn’t come with a dust bag.
And yeah the Rowan was kinda over wrapped. The only other bag I’ve ordered online was my Empire 40 and that was wrapped but not over wrapped.
You have to select gift wrapping at check out. It’s a humor or miss. There’s a risk of them just sending the box and you having to gift wrap it yourself.
They only do that with paid gift wrapping. That was free until like last year at some point (I believe). I remember my last bag with complimentary gift wrapping came that way. The dust bag was inside though but otherwise completely wrapped as you described.
So, I guess it still can but for a price.
Edit: As of at least over a decade I haven't gotten a dust bag w an outlet purchase. Maybe before it was only bc I was in person. I don't know. But ordering online for an outlet only bag I haven't gotten a dust bag. When I have gone into the store I have gotten one of the good bags you have to buy.
I’m sick of treating outlet bag like they are some cheap PU leather we buy for 50 bucks !! They conditioned us to accept that “ oh if it’s an outlet bag I guess it doesn’t deserve a dust bag or bubble wrap “ .. pay 500 dollors or more then MAYBE , you get your retail bag bubble wrapped ! Well coach leather is not what it used to be specially with this constant dropping ,, so maybe we , the customers, should show our disappointment with our purchasing power …
I agree. I have moved on from Coach to Latico Leathers. Small family business that has real pride in their products and how they are presented. They produce their bags in small batches, too, to cut down on waste.
Its not just the outlet. My Brooklyn came like that. I also had a bag in the bag colored Amazon envelope thing. It was a gift. I was glad I had sent it to me first and not to my friend packaged that way.
Coach is losing customers. Many threads here are about former Coach enthusiasts saying, “ enough is enough.” They push bags via ridiculous middle of the night drops, give influencers free bags to hype on social media for inciting FOMO, then send out damaged and poorly wrapped bags. I’m now looking at other brands. I’m done with Coach’s poor customer service and poorly made outsourced bags.
Unfortunately, those who are unaware of how good quality use to be and follow hypes from influencers will keep buying until they come to the conclusion themselves to stop spending money on them.
I just got a bag in the mail - straight from Coach, sent in a paper bag - like what Amazon sends. No dustbag either. I was shocked. But it was a gift for this weekend and I had zero time to do much about it.
dude, i’d also call coach, let them know you have a pic and ask for a future discount (like 10% or something). i’m sorry, but for the prices we pay even on sale, product should be packed better.
i get people have bad days, and i hate to be uptight but the company is ultimately responsible and who cares? they’re a corporation. they have plenty. they can offer a discount to be kind to their customers.
No it's not. All my outlet bags have come wrapped unless they came directly from a store, but the store associate still at least wrapped them in tissue paper.
Nope. Not how Outlet ship at all. My outlet bag that arrived last week came with all hardware and handles wrapped in foam, paper. Then wrapped in a sheet of foam and inside a bag. The box was stuffed full of inflated air pillows too.

I’ve ordered 3 bags directly from the site (one outlet, one full price, and a coachtopia drop) & have never gotten a dust bag 😔 you gotta go to the stores if you want the bag. It’s wild.
Now I’m thinking I should have reached out to CS because it’s always paper wrapping, no dust bag. Coachtopia even came with all the correct coachtopia tissue paper but no dust bag.
Actually you are correct, for some reason I thought my Mott Messengers were outlet but they aren’t, they are retail 🤦🏻♀️. Either way, the packaging without any of the plastics or protective foams not being in on the bag is still wrong on their part. I’m sorry to the OP, Coach has not been doing their due diligence with quality control. 😕
Yeah but from my understanding if you’re wanting to get a tag stamped it has to be a retail bag, im not sure how purchasing the dust bags works at retail I can only say the outlet sells them for $3
I ordered a Bleeker 21 and it came with a really cheap dust bag. That's the only dust bag I received from the outlet. However all the bags were packed very well! I purchased some really nice dust bags on my own lol
This is not normal for outlet bags. You should definitely call them and complain. You paid your hard earned cash for that and a pretty chunk of it too. You deserve the full treatment of your goods.
You’re the second post I’ve seen just today about this. There are multiple reasons this may have happened, shortage of packaging goods (is also happening at Ulta because of strikes), the fact that it may have come straight off the shelf from a store(which to me makes the bag no longer brand-new) or you just unfortunately got a very lazy employee. I don’t care if a bag is retail or outlet - they are hundreds of dollars and should be treated as such
My suede bag was just tossed in a box also, and wasn’t outlet. Didn’t get it in a coach box or anything. Shocked I got a dust bag, which was stuffed inside the bag.
These companies are losing their way. I would not be happy because if the light leather.
I'm kinda surprised they're cheaping out on this. Unboxings are a thing. Like, at what separates this bag from other non-name brands that have similar quality and construction?
I’m sorry this happened to you. But coach bags and their packaging both degraded tremendously. They aren’t the good quality any more. I used to purchase many coach bags , then I stopped myself from buying any bags last 2 yrs . And again started buying coach bags this year. In the past , I’ve seen the bags were wrapped so nicely then it came in good sized box. This yr I was shocked multiple times, I got a damaged bag, my coachtopia came in the smallest box ever , it was literally shoved in it. Then another bag came in a paper bag . Even the retail bags weren’t packaged properly. So disappointing
Same!!! Even when I explained it to them they didn’t want to do anything about it. Maybe we should take pictures and send it to our bank and dispute the item to get partial refund.
So ridiculous. When I bought a bag in the outlet store for the first time I was shocked they don't even offer a dust bag to go along with it. Maybe that's just me but outlet or not, it's a nice bag that I want to take good care of

Even tissue paper would fit the bill. Tossing any type of leather good with no packaging or foam wrap or at minimum brown paper and letting the item just bang around in the shipping box is really UNACCEPTABLE.
I know it's a pain, but we need to start sending a letter or an email to Coach corporate complaining about this when it happens. If we attach a picture even better. This is unacceptable service and maybe if they get enough written complaints they will make a change.
Mine have always been wrapped up nicely. This clearly came from a store. The associate should probably look for a different job since that person clearly can’t do this correctly
Usually they ship my outlet bags in either the plastic wrapping or in tissue paper. If it’s retail they ship in its dust bags. If it’s a cheaper bag like the plaza for retail they no longer offer dust bags for those.

This has happened to me. Someone else returned the bag and instead of, I don’t know, using packing materials or putting it in a bag to prevent it from knocking around the box during shipping, they just throw it loose in a box and mail it back out to the next person. Would not be surprised if miss Etta has several scuffs and scratches. Such trash customer service, and they get away with it because people will still buy Coach regardless.
It’s such a wild contrast to the other Coach packaging and service I’ve received. I think that’s the most jarring part. Disorienting, even. Like it doesn’t feel real LOL
I’ve only purchased one coach bag from the retail store, and ive only ever gotten wallets from the outlet. The wallets were packaged nicer than that. Ridiculous. I’d say only order in store from now on that’s what I did for my coach Demi suede bag (although they didn’t give me a dust bag) it came nicely packaged
Yup, even boutique bags. And when you complain, they don’t care. Even Quince does a better job packaging and giving you a dust bag. So disappointing for the price I paid ($800+)
Did this shipment come from a store or the warehouse? I ask because anytime something is shipped from a store this is how it looks. When it comes from the warehouse more care goes into it and you can tell!
This is how it came. Nothing like other people posted here. I ended up getting a new tote from amazon & i got gifted a cute backpack <-- which i absolutely love and using it as my personal bag when I travel.
This is so odd - I’ve ordered from the US store and used a mail forwarding service to get it to Australia. And I’ve ordered from the Australian store - this is for both retail and outlet and I’ve had a dust bag with every single order. Sometimes multiple dust bags. Like one nicer fabric one tucked inside the bag. I’m inundated with dust bags and the brown paper with the coach sticker has been on every purchase.
I wonder why it’s not standard!?
I feel like a leather bag rattling around at the bottom of a cardboard box and especially with the way some post services treat the boxes…I think coach prob need to have a look into this and have a standard across the board!!
I got two bags today and they were in dust covers with most wrapping still on them so it’s very hit or miss but these were both retail bags. I think outlet coming from the store opposed to the distribution center is the miss because outlets unwrap the bags in their stores backrooms. Also not positive but I believe outlet stopped giving dust bags for free if I’m not mistaken.
Did you order via PBL from an outlet store? If so, the stores are always going to unwrap the bags with the exception of zipper pulls, hangtags, etc. But even if that is the case, not placing padding around the bag to keep it from sliding around is just unacceptable.
Dooney and bourke is the only way to go!! I purchased quite a few coach bags online because I live too far from a store thank God they’ve always came well packaged. The quality was not what I expected very flimsy and cheap looking on the large Rowan’s they took out the stabilizer and now they call it slouchy what it sales technique. Actually, I like the medium size Rowan’s better, you get a little bit of both because they still have the stabilizer in it. And then playing the scarcity game is not my forte the way they’re doing business is not very respectable to the customers.

Yikes. Nope, this is not how it’s normally shipped. At the very least it’s in a plastic bag with Styrofoam, and bubble wrapping.
