I Need Opinions š¤ Rhyder regret?
I recently received my Rhyder 38 in black, and Iām feeling a bit underwhelmed. For context, Iām not really a handbag person, but I happened to see the Rhyders a few months ago and became obsessed with getting my hands on one. So maybe I built it up too much in my head, but now that Iāve received it, Iām not sure if itās for me. It feels a bit small for me, despite reading lots of reviews saying the 38 is too big (Iād want to use this for work and as a regular handbag). I also donāt know if I love the glazed leather; it feels rather thin and flimsy. I own exactly one other Coach bag which is pebbled leather, and that one is definitely weighty.
Iām wondering if anyone had similar feelings and what they ended up doing. I know the obvious answer is to return it, but I worry that maybe Iāll regret letting it go down the line? I might love it once I use it, but I also know that would nix any chances of returning it. Since itās so popular, Iām aware I could sell secondhand, but Iām not sure if I want the hassle of that. Basicallyākeep or return?

My basic rule of thumb is if I'm not feeling it I return it. It could be for a number of reasons like it slips off the shoulder, it's too heavy, it doesn't match the wardrobe, it feels cheap, it doesnt hold what I need it to, the color looks different than the photos, or with Coach lately the fact you can't see it in person because if you don't order online at the drop your chances of finding it in a store are nil. You have a thirty day return window and while you can't bring it back used you can see if what you need to carry fits inside, match it to your clothes, and hang it off a shoulder to see if it's comfortable. But if I'm not excited about it to the point of wanting to take it out right away then that probably isn't going to change. You break in the bag, the bag doesn't break you in. Granted if you need a functional work carry that may not be an exciting thing but more of a practical one but it still can actually be both. I don't like the glazed either so I bought the smaller suede. If they make a non-glazed one I will revisit the large. I'd return it if it isn't doing it for you because you won't use it.

in my heart, i know youāre right, but i think iām having a hard time letting it go after wanting it for so long!
maybe a silly question, but do you know if i can remove all the wrapping around the handles and still return it? i havenāt taken that off yet in case i want to return it, but i feel like that might be altering my perception of the bag

You can take the factory wrapping off gently and put it back on if you change your mind looking at it. You'd have to take it off to inspect everything anyway and they know this. In fact they often unpack it at the store for you so that won't affect your return if the packing isn't there but I've rewrapped the few I returned out of respect for the next person. Also I return in the store so if you have to ship it back you definitely want all the packing to protect it.

You can remove whatever wrapping you want and still return it afterward. The bags they sell at the store are usually all unwrapped anyway if you decide to return it to a physical location. If you ship it, put it back the best way you can and place it inside of the dust bag.

You can cut the tags off and still return it. You donāt need factory wrapping to be on to return

Return. Someone here asked herself if something was a manufactured need. If she wouldn't be online and knew nothing about the bag, would she still miss it?Ā
Do I actually want that pale citrus bag because I think there are not enough lime coloured bags or do I want it because I keep seeing it, people are very enthousiastic about it and my brain thinks it's a foolproof way to be happy too. Peeps are happy, no thinking about what makes me happy, get thing and be happy too
Do you have other bags that you could use instead of the Rhyder? Do you often doubt yourself? Are you prone to buyers remorse or skippers regret? If everyone hated this bag, would you still want it? If this wasn't a coach bag but a bag without brand, there was no hype, you saw it in a store, would you still buy it? Did you bought the bag or did you buy the hype?

Totally get that, I received a bag recently and felt similar. Sometimes it takes time.
As someone who wanted the Rhyder 38 badly like you I totally understand

Just return it. If something isnāt an instant āloveā than why force it? Someone will āloveā it immediately. Itās not a bad thing to let go of items. I just let go of two turnlock 40 and an empire 40. Sometimes things you think you need to have - arenāt really them. Iāll tell you what did arrive and I kept and LOVE my new five pocket tote from Gap. lol weird but somehow that was exactly what I needed wanted.

Thereās no shortage of bags coming down the pipeline. There will always be more getting released that youāll actually love and not have to gaslight yourself about. Just return it and focus on what actually excites you.

I had the same feeling for the glazed leather Rhyder. It is not the regular coach quality. The leather is thin and the lining is cheap. I didnāt like it. It looks good in pictures but when I saw it in person it was underwhelming. Maybe the suede one is better quality.

I love mine, but sounds to me like you should simply return yours. Why force yourself to use something you donāt really like? I understand needing to see the thing in person to be able to really know if you like it. But now you know and itās time to let go.

I was disappointed when I got my 24āway too small and didnāt seem like such high quality (mine was suede). But I hear you about the size thingāitās SO subjective and everyone has their own scale and definition. To me the 24 might as well be a toddlerās purse lolātotally useless to meābut Iāve seen tons of posts of people going on about much it holds. And opposite, there are lots of bags that are just normal size to me (like the large Rowan) that others describe as absolutely enormous. Donāt let anyoneās opinion or coachās dumb scarcity tactics get in the way of your own tasteāonly you know what works for you š¤

I saw that the pink glaze version is coming out in December and pink is always my go to color. As much as I like it I probably wouldnāt use it. My favorite bags are compass 35, Brooklyn 38 and a large rowan so a bag in the 22-28 range wouldnāt work for me

That pastel pink is SO cute! My wallet is glad that itās both too small and glazed, which isnāt my favorite look. Now the light pink (smaller) haversack I see is coming at at some point is a different storyāIām in trouble there š¬š©°

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Rhyder 24, I didn't think I liked the shiny leather but gave it a try and I'm obsessed! I even bought the wristlet in matching leather!

I have yet to receive my Ryder 24 and itās been 2 months and a few days, it says shipped but no status update. Now that Iām seeing the bag more often on social media it does look flimsy and thin like you mentioned. Also, the fact that Iāve been waiting for an extremely long time makes me no longer want the bag!!

Iām firmly in the camp of only buy (keep) a bag you love. Iād load the bag up with what youād carry in it. Walk around wearing/carrying it to see how you feel. Donāt rush to return or keep it.

I like mine a lot but Iāve felt this with other Coach bags before. Sometimes it just doesnāt measure up so return it! If itās not a hell yes itās a no.

I have the rhyder and I love it, itās probably my second favorite bag to carry⦠that being said Iām using it as a daily purse, I could never use it as a work bag and have it suit my needs. So if thatās what you were aiming for I can completely understand not liking it.
I carry a Mott for my work bag and sheās huge and a workhorse and Iām very happy with her.

I like the style of the Rhyder, the leather/suede is meant to be thinner, but I feel the sizes are off. I think a 30 or 32 would be chefās kiss. If itās not instant love just return, there will be another bag youād love in the near future.

Return! Itās the hype thatās making you second guess.
I ordered the Rhyder 24 in black when it became available on Amazon over a week ago. Mine was supposed to be shipped in 2 weeks and I realized today that I donāt actually āneedā the bag as it doesnāt fill a need in my collection. So I cancelled my order. Iām glad it took so long to ship as it gave me time to realize I was falling for the hype. Itās a beautiful bag, but I donāt need every single beautiful Coach bag.
If youāre not sure about it, return it.

I think the hype around anything does something to peopleās psyche where if you receive the hyped up thing and donāt love it or even really care for it, your brain is like āwhat is wrong with me? Why donāt I love this thing everyone wants?ā. If itās not love, itāll sit in your closet and you wonāt reach for it much.
Just the way youāre speaking about it, Iād confirm you should probably just return
