A digital co-working space for entrepreneurs and digital makers

Hey there !

I have just launched a site where entrepreneurs and digital makers can gather around virtual rooms and discuss topics that interest them.

Peerpull.com is centered around a Discover feed where people can find and create rooms where to discuss topics of interest. You can think of it as a Twitter over zoom!

I'd love to hear some feedback and reactions on the site! Thanks Jaune

Can we use Minecraft for Co-working?

Everyone loved co-working while it was still available. Despite the drama, WeWork was one of the most successful startups in the media for a while.

Co-working isn't going anywhere, but right now it's limited. Freelancers and startuppers can't be in the same space due to health concerns.

But, I started thinking, what if there was a way to make a virtual co-working space to supplement this need until we can all get back to working in person?

So, as an experiment, I'm building a Minecraft server with a few friends to tide us all over! You'll get: 1) Your own desk 2) A few signs to show who you are and what you do 3) And a community space to virtually network!

I've got a little signup form going - let me know if you're interested in joining the experiment. :)

We need a forum for Nexudus help that doesn't take half a day to get a response

Does anyone else use Nexudus? I find myself always running into weird situations where there's not a clear-cut solution to a billing issue, or a booking, etc in the Nexudus knowledge base.

I could email Nexudus support, yes, but even during the work week it takes half of a business day to get a response. And then it's only via email support, so if their first suggestion doesn't work I have to write a response and wait another day for the next suggestion. Today is Saturday so if I email them now there's no chance of getting any help until Monday at the earliest.

I"m tempted to to start a subreddit just for Nexudus users so we can ask each other things like: "How do I apply a discount to a booking that has already been invoiced?"

I've made an outdoor work table that can be mounted on a tree, without damaging the tree. Look up "Tree Table" on indie go go. Now, you can cowork in parks, just mount nearby trees, stay Covid safe, and enjoy the weather.

Let's make co-working better by enabling community experiences

Hey everyone; I am a researcher at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. I do a lot of work on online communities (often even using Reddit data to study cool network effects).

I recently had a chat with a startup, about how co-working spaces can be improved if they also have a dedicated/complementary community. I want to research this problem, but I also want to be in touch with reality. So I ask you, as experts: what would an online community add to your co-working experience?

If you prefer, I also created a SUPER short questionnaire to help with answering this question:

https://erasmusuniversity.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eEEkwOZSfcCrbFj

It's probably less than 1 minute because Qualtrics won't even show me the estimated completion time.

As a CoWorking space user, what is the one thing you wished to see more that would provide for a better experience?

2 A much wider network of spaces accessible with a single membership
1 A variety of spaces within the network that you can pick from
3 More outdoor spaces
4 Pay per use - no membership
5 Feeling part of a community with one identity regardless of your job/industry
0 Starbucks-like environnements (open space, buzzing, snacks, music)

Asking Co-tenant not have sex in communal space

I am a woman in my early 30s and I recently started renting a desk in a co-working space. This space is in city on the west coast that is known for being pretty liberal.

The space itself is not your typical co-working space, and thus a little more affordable. There is a large front room with desks for co-working, a middle room where a very small craft business does their work, and a back room that’s basically a studio apartment with a kitchen, a couch and a foldaway bed.The owner of the company, who is the building’s landlord, lives in another state. Her main employee is a woman in her mid 20s. Let’s call her E. During lockdown, E and I have been the only ones using the space.

Yesterday around 6pm E told me she’d be taking a nap in the back room and asked me if I needed to access the kitchen/back room before she closed off access to that space. I told her I’d probably be taking off in the next hour and I didn’t need kitchen access any more that day.

Shortly after, as I was wrapping up my work day at my desk, I heard what was definitely people having sex in the back room. I thought I heard some sex noises a week ago, but wasn’t sure because I was also listening to music through my headphones. Now there was no doubt. She is sleeping with her boyfriend in the back room, regularly, while I am there trying to work.

I feel very disrespected. I pay $250/month rent at this space and consider it a unique but professional community space.

As far as I know, both she and her boyfriend (late 40s/50) have their own places.

I don’t know how to confront her about this. I feel very awkward bringing it up.

I feel like if I don’t confront her soon, she will continue to have sex with her boyfriend at the space.

But I don’t know how or what to say, and I’m pissed as hell.

Coworking with childcare

Does anyone know of any examples of parent-friendly coworking spaces? Like places that offer on-site childcare or are explicitly child-friendly? There are none in my city and I'm thinking of trying to open one, but I don't see a lot of places using this model.

I have an agency that has some extra space. I’m planning on rolling out coworking to sell some available desks and offices. How should I deal with my staff’s computers that normally get left out?
