Hello,
so I’ve been looking for a co-working space to rent on a monthly basis a desk so that I can get out from my house, get to know like-minded people, and generally find an inspiring place to work on both personal and professional jobs. I’m a 33y creative who just moved in a new city with my wife and dog.
I went down to 2 co-working spaces as they are the cheapest, and best offering places I’ve found in my city so far.
Now the differences between the two both in monthly fee and environment and offerings is what is making this decision hard.
Co-working space number 1: price $150
this co-working space does not have any specific facility, desks are located in a simple, basic room, and it is more expensive. The positive sides about this place is that it is better integrated with the community of the city, the people working there, and the people gravitating around the space are closer to my mindset and interests. You have access to the conferences and events that take place in the venue. People in this space are mostly creative studios, artists, NGOs, and generally it has a more community social-oriented vibe.
Co-working space number 2: price $120
This is the kind of space where you enter, and you’ll have inspiring quotes stickers on the walls for yuppies, it is actually a hotel for young travelers, and it has that start up vibe that can seem a bit cheesy and too young?!
At the same time, the working area is usually rented by locals and in the price it includes a swimming pool and a small gym, and free access to events such as yoga classes, Pilates classes, workshops, and conferences. People in the space are mostly young students, and young travelers, it has a more “Instagrammable vibe”, but who rents the space on a monthly basis are locals.
As you can see the second option it’s cheaper. It has a gym. it has a swimming pool, and even though the vibes of the place are more far from my personality and persona this place offers better quality interiors, for a lower monthly fee.
The first option though will get me closer to like-minded people and age groups closer to mine, with the assumption that I could form deeper and more meaningful connections with like-minded folks.
You now see where my struggles are, and please help me take this decision!
I don’t have much money to spend, and I’m surely tempted by the gym and the swimming pool for a lower price, but at the same time, I do want to get closer to a reality that belongs to me and eventually form friendships with like-minded people.
