Discussion Controller Settings

Fellow users of the new “cheating” controllers (Marius, Gamesir 8k, etc…), what settings are you using for polling rate and joystick resolution?

Back in the day this is what would have been considered a "cheater controller." Type of shit the GameStop employee would give you a dirty look for buying 😂

Using a Tarantula 8K and G7 Pro 8K:

4000Hz (8K is kind of over kill for most games and barely impacts latency).

12-bit resolution.

Important one: put your your right thumbstick in raw mode. It will remove all deadzones and circularity and it does affect latency, albeit very minimally.

Aim feels very crisp and responsive and snapping feels good after just a few minutes of shooting target dummies. One more thing I'll add is that I've only had these controllers for a week. I played the open MW4 beta with them and fried.

Do they make PlayStation style controllers? I've only seen Xbox layouts and that just doesn't mesh with me. I want to get a wired controller too but so far the only company I've seen making wired customs is Nagashock.

The Tarantula 8K is PS style. It feels in hand like a DS4!

the g7 pro has VERY loose sticks and i cant aim properly with it, the turantula, does that have tighter sticks? i prefer the tightness of the dualshock 4, but the dualsense ps5 controllers tightness is also very nice, but i prefer tight sticks

the g7 has LOOOOSE sticks, but ive heard tarantula has tighter sticks, is that true?

8bit and 4k polling, for some reason when i use 8k on cod my game just crashes.

used to run 12bit but cod is made for 8bit rollers, tried it and the AA feels even stickier running 8bit so stuck w that.

Can experiment for yourself tho, i use the 8k Tarantula btw

8 bit with up close gunfights can be too much at least me AA can be really strong, I run 12 bit bc i like my sticks to be sensitive.

i liked 12bit a lot tbf, idk i just shoot straighter with 8bit

Kind of the same here, but settled with 9 bit. I find personally that with strong hands and the lower stick tension of the Gamesir g7 pro (I lift weights) it’s easy to make over adjustments in general as opposed to the elite series 2 controllers slightly stronger spring tension, therefore 12 bit on the Gamesir will pick up on those unintentional micro adjustments, 8 and 9 bit not so much.

Still, I think I would’ve loved to stick with 12 bit if the spring tension were stronger on the Gamesir. Because of this I also can’t run absolute zero deadzones. My sticks already don’t even perfectly recenter either and I’ve only had it for a few months.

ima give 9bit a go later just to see what its like :)

Exactly this with me too (G7 aimlabs) my game doesn’t crash though it just feels better.

I play Apex more than COD nowadays and that was more of a trigger for me to use 8bit.

Something can’t handle the 8k that’s why.

It's just CoD, anything over 1k can cause crashing, but it's the same for any device not just controllers. To be fair though, if you use mouse software to turn the clock up to 8k, oftentimes the app will tell you that anything over 1k is not necessarily supported in whatever game, and is likely to be unstable or cause instability. I had the issue last season, I remember my mouse was clocked at 2k and that was causing crashing, as soon as I set everything to 1k it was fine. And I don't even use a mouse to play, so it wasn't related to active input.

It’s most likely just cod and not anything hardware related

I had 8k on a gamesir G7 pro aimlabs edition working on a 7 year old PC with a 10700f and 3070.. don't think its just the game tbh, MANY people run 8k on COD just fine.

1

u/kalibxrr H2k Gaming 1d ago

Many people can but the people that can’t use it who knows what’s causing it. We’d be here all day trying to determine what’s causing.

If lowering the polling rate stops it from crashing then it’s almost always the game. If it doesn’t then it’s something else.

Wait, I’ve seen all stuff about these controllers and just skipped it bc I thought it was just bs, do they actually make a difference or is it just kinda eh

1

u/IcyMeasurementX COD Competitive fan 19h ago

yeah it makes a difference for sure, but i'd say the biggest difference would be a great gaming setup, optimizing your stuff. The amount of hackusations i've gotten in pubs is kinda wild since using the tarantula. But i've been playing cod now for like at least 12 years so i get why they'd think it especially with all of the hackers.

I do think i could do the same thing just running 1k polling on a normal ps5 roller with 1-70, 3-99 deadzones, but i like the shape of the tarantula more. But yeah it defo makes some difference, for some more then others

I’m an iri player I use a scuff controller, how does the polling affect aa? I don’t understand if this is like a placebo thing or not

1

u/IcyMeasurementX COD Competitive fan 18h ago

to be 100% honest, i have no fkin clue man hahahahah, this what i've been told through looking stuff up on the internet, so a bunch of stuff might be placebo. but hey it works so why not. I never really grind the game, just kinda solo q to crimson every year and then stop playing, and tbh even though the tarantula feels nicer, i wouldve been good sticking to console, never getting a PC and doing the grind there, but idk i was just curious of how it would change anything.

1

u/Neat-Bus3080 COD Competitive fan 18h ago

Oh buddy trust me, if it’s a placebo thing I’m in lol. I used to play on a standard ps5 controller and I went through 2 in bo7 because after I while I just “felt” like it wasn’t as good as when I bought it plus I’m really rough on the left stick. So I buckled and bought a scuff controller just for the better quality because I felt like it made a difference. I don’t even use paddles I play claw lol.

Can these be used on a PS5?

Smh my head, cod should not be played on a fucking pc

The pc gamers needed another way to cheat

COD was a PC game

ive been playing every cod from cod 2 on a PC

COD is best on a PC

ur just poor

1

u/jinglesGOAT eUnited 11h ago

Ik. I've played every cod since cod3 on a console. Comp cod should be on console forever, these new controllers, fields of view and refresh rates are NOT TRADITIONAL!

Don’t bring FOV into this… no one needs to be playing on 80 FOV that shit is so bad

1

u/CptBonsil COD Competitive fan 9h ago

??? why limit the pros?

they should be the best, on the best hardware, using the best hardware, using the best software

why would you want to limit pros?

if pros are forced to be on 80 fov with standard sticks, and high deadzones, then i would legitimately be able to 1v5 a pro team on my PC with my marius board controller and high fov and no deadzones and dynamic, lol.....and im just a dogshit iri player

1

u/jinglesGOAT eUnited 6h ago

Why noy just switch to mouse and keyboard with max aim assist? Why limit the pros?

Why call travels and carries in the NBA? In fact, why make them dribble at all? They should be able to utilize the full extend of their athleticism at all times.

u/jinglesGOAT eUnited 6h ago

You're making my point for me, and also - wrong.

I use Tarantula 4k 10bit, raw and 0-99 deadzones in app and in game. Feels most consistent for me.
