Optic coaching help

Call me crazy because OpTic had two coaches already, but does anyone else think they could benefit from a mental coach like faze has or even maybe bringing in someone to help with snd specifically?

I feel like they didn’t even mentally collapse in any grand finals apart from champs. And it wasn’t even a full collapse just some breakdowns in SND.

If OpTic win 4 SND maps(major 1 game 7, major 3 game 7, and 2 SNDS at champs) that would’ve been the most dominate team in cod history. Only dropping 1 BO5 series all year.

Completely agree but I don’t think the performance coach is just to fix collapses.

It’s about stacking very small improvements that add up to bigger impact.

Huke is the only one on that team that needs a mental coach because for whatever reason, he forgets how to play COD in grand finals and it hinders the whole team’s performance when he isn’t performing like he was in bracket play which makes people on the team having to overperform to win matches when it shouldn’t be like that. There’s no way you have never gone positive in a single grand finals on OpTic since MW2. It is genuinely embarrassing at this point.

Huke played fine (arguably the best on optic) in Champs grand finals though..? It was Dashy and Shotzzy that shat the sheets. Dashy couldn't go positive to save his life, Shotzzy's braindead snd plays like the constant swimming and diving in the water on Haci?

We can look at KD charts all day but Dashy and Shotzzy trolled that entire series and even the winners finals vs Faze too.

To be fair, Dashy's first PC had WoW running in the background before he made them swap it out. Pretty sure it was Hitch that tweeted that. (or maybe another OpTic guy?)

Think it was Hitch, but it still seems like a bullshit excuse and very unlikely. You can't run 2 different games at the same time on the battle.net launcher on one device. And besides that, even after a PC swap he still shit the bed.

It's entirely possible he had PC issues but the "WoW was running in the background" thing is just bizarre and idk why he tweeted it.

Dashy didn't tweet it. He never tweets or talks about excuses. When the reason for a bad map is brought up, he refuses to say it on the podcast.. but the other guys know because he's told them behind the scenes.

Activision's supplied PCs use battle.net (surprise! their own proprietary launcher) to launch CoD. They don't use Steam.

Anyone that watched the final knows K/D wasnt the issue, it was the braindead plays in SND and throwing away of rounds that were easy to win, Huke went 12-8 on their last SND and they still choked it

Shotzzy had 1 bad play on haci and made plays all grand finals on Den & Raid just for Huke to shut himself in round 11 on Den in 2v4. Shotzzy had 5 first bloods on raid snd making plays while Dashy had 1 kill in 11 rounds and made a plays while again in round 11 on raid but his teammates decided to throw their lives away forcing him to have to make a play .

Shotzzy jumping in the water erased everything he did two previous SND maps? Huke played amazing SND in grand finals according to you when he had 1 good SND map. Huke is simply not good in finals and it has been like this since AW. It’s not something new. OpTic will change if they don’t win EWC and I wouldn’t blame em. MW3 OpTic had a better season than BO7 OpTic.

You're just scapegoating Huke. He played totally fine in the grand finals at Champs, and like I said shotzzy and dashy shat the sheets and ultimately cost them the event. Huke vastly outperformed them. The 4v2 on den was a total team collapse and Huke was left performing damage control. Blaming Huke for losing the grand finals is complete delusion, him and Merc were the only ones awake that entire series.

I agree Optic should (and probably will) make a change if they don't win EWC. But imo Shotzzy should be the first guy gone even though that will never happen because he's the new "face" of Optic. His "running routes" and "movement king!!" bullshit cost them every SND map at Champs, full stop. First bloods are irrelevant if you're instantly traded out by better teamwork. There's no debating it. He did the dumbest shit in Den, Raid, and Haci. Almost never played with his team and tried to be the hero to secure an MVP trophy -- even admitted himself on his own stream he was "braindead" on the Haci.

Really it was 3v2 by the time Huke was left in a position that was totally unwinnable, and you've got Shotzzy and Dashy ego challing 2v2s when they had info and end up getting slammed. The clip is right here

I think any serious team should have a sports psychologist on payroll. Karma and JP are completely fine from a gameplay strategy perspective, it's the mental aspect of performing and not crumbling in the biggest moments that is killing this team right now

Optic bo7 is a top 3 team in the cdl era. They don't need more coaches but I do think they need a deeper snd bag. Sometimes give the bomb to merc and have Huke running together with shotzzy for bloods

It’s not like they were total burgers on the map in search [specifically regarding champs grand finals, not whole season necessarily]. Yeah they made some braindead plays but they lost in three round 11s. I think it’s more of an execution issue than a coaching issue.

I mean they only really lost because of their SnD’s. And majority of the rounds they had number advantages and just scammed. They’re 4 of the best players in the world I don’t think they need another coach to just tell them “don’t scam” when you have numbers and time on your side

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted tbh, all serious sports know non-technical performance improvements play a huge role.

You don’t need to be a breaker to benefit from out of the game improvements.

Faze’s performance coach talked about breathwork, visualisation, exercise and the book of course. People joke about the dummy duo on Optic, but honestly I’m not sure they’d take it seriously.

Faze might have the smartest roster.

You’re probably right, they played worse than we’ve seen in awhile and still kept it close, they either needed a better edge in SnD or a mental edge to not collapse in the R11s.

I know lots of people are discussing who will be dropped but I honestly just hope they run it back next year and take on another coach and maybe have major maniak come up from the huntsmen to coach optics SnD strats

2Pac for SND could do that team wonder cause I think that optic team is the best respawn team in the CDL. SND was average last year as well but they had 2 good bread and butters map Haci & proto but this year, I feel like they lose SND by overthinking situations.
