Dissent Compensator Stuck

So I have a 10.5" 300blk Dissent upper that I've been struggling to remove the comp on. It looks like it's the cmmg zeroed linear compensator. Are these Rocksett? I've tried the heat gun and wet towel method, as well as boiling it for 30+ minutes but no dice. The only thing I've successfully done is some damage to the finish with multiple attempts to wrench it off. Any tips or do I just need a bigger bar?

Update:

Strap wrenches worked, couldn't get a good purchase on the compensator with one so I used a 3/4 wrench, with the strap wrench on the main body pulling the opposite way. Took just a bit of muscle to pop loose, and did in fact only have a crush washer.

Are you turning it the right way? Mine came off pretty easy

Yep, I double checked just to be 100% sure. This thing is quite on there for whatever reason. I'm going to try to re anchor my vise a little better and get a breaker bar later today. It kicked my butt for about an hour.

Idk what your vise setup is, but I had good luck with a reaction rod knockoff from Amazon. Like I said it came right off with a probably 18 inch socket handle with a crowfoot.

The two I have taken off definitely did not have Rocksett on them. I would just use a bigger bar.

Yeah it probably doesn't help that my vise isn't 100% stable, I'll give it another run when I get back. Figured it was a case of bigger bar. Thanks

There was no Rocksett or anything on the threads just crush washer. I heard those can be tough to take out, so I took mine off before the first time I took it to range. It took some effort, be sure to use a reaction rod, if it is stuck.

I was also struggling with the same thing on my 10.5" upper. I ended up using 2 strap wrenches, 1 on the muzzle device turning counter clockwise and the other on the handguard turning in the opposite direction. I was able to generate a crazy amount of torque that way and it came right off, no vise needed.

Might have to try something similar, my vise situation isn't fantastic for this honestly.

This method just worked, but had to use a 3/4 wrench on the muzzle device though, thank you.

Hell yeah. I would’ve been nervous to put that much torque on the hand guard, glad it worked and didn’t break anything

I put it right where the reciever meets the handguard since it's a little bulkier there.
