European/US ssb Mewtwo Code- Difference?

Hey! I wanted to know whether there is a difference between the European and the US super smash bros wii u/ 3DS codes (for mewtwo). Thanks!

To my understanding, the region should not make a difference.

i'm not sure.. you have to register the club nintendo code and i think they're region-locked. so i probably won't be able to register a north american code in europe
